I voted for the first time today!!

Forgive the relatively unimportant post, but I'm just so excited about it. I finally recieved my absentee ballot after a couple weeks of wrangling with my state board of elections over my application.

It felt so good to be able to fill in that little circle next to Barack Obama, Frank Lautenberg, and Tom Wyka. I'm on cloud 9 right now. Now we just wait til tuesday :).

with your first vote. My first vote was AGAINST Nixon and most since were voting against Republicans instead of being excited about our candidate. Not this time. I think I know now how people felt voting for JFK back in '60.

I hope young people make it a point to remember this election and how they felt cause voting for someone you really are passionate about doesn't happen as often as it should.

For me I feel totally patriotic and know I'm making history, all somber and delighted and puffed out pride and hopeful.

I get the same feeling every time I vote and at no other time. It keeps me voting every four years.

And for what it's worth, I've been voting since 1969, and this time IS different. This is the first time that I've cried while putting a mark next to a candidate's name. Hope. Vote. Two four-letter words that carry enormous power.

And I'm taking a huge box of kleenex to the celebration Tuesday night, cuz there's going to be a whole lot of crying for happy!
