1. Impressive..
nice to see the S.S in every picture, he's going to need them given the level of vitriol coming from the extreme righties.

7. The guy is a walking, living, breathing phenomenon. If people can't see what he's about, they are
missing out on an important part of existence. He possesses so many traits that are intrinsic to life in a society. Family, service to others, compassion, sense of humor, heart, drive, ambition. The guy has it all. And he has the prayers of millions to back him up.

15. Thank you! Beautiful pix! K&R...
I really do have hope this time, but the only president that I voted for who won was Bill Clinton. *sigh* I'll feel better on the 5th... :-)

BTW, my neighbor, a very nice lady and a retired teacher, who is involved with local Republican candidates, told me that she's voting for Obama. Turns out that her eldest daughter went to school with him at Harvard, and they were friends, had the same favorite professor. I asked her what he was like and she said that he was a brilliant guy, but also incredibly nice. :-)

25. what a nice thing to hear!
I certainly never doubted that he's a good person--the little story about the woman in the airport who couldn't afford to put her bags on the plane until he paid for them comes to mind!--but it's just a sweet little bonus extra to hear that he's so "incredibly nice" that he's remembered that way so many years later.

I am SO FREAKIN' EXCITED about having a nice normal loving family in the White House! I don't know why--politicians' personal lives are no more my business than anybody else's is--but for some reason it just makes me happy.

:)

32. Thanks! I thought so too!
My neighbor is a nice person, but I know that she supported fellow Republicans, have had them and talked to them on many porch, but that's okay. I want to know what these (people think because local races., around here, tend to be decided in the Republican primaries... *sigh*)

But I am so glad that my neighbor has seen the light, and a bright one. She told me long ago that she was not happy with Bush*, but she now has personal reasons for supporting Obama. I begged her to speak to my mother, her friend... x(

17. What a beautiful family. I'm praying for him to make a historical
blow out.

I don't understand where some of the people on DU find the percentages that are being
estimated as we speak.

I wish I knew more about how you can all tell this pre-voting is an advantage to the democrats.

20. Beautiful. inspirational
I have never felt this way about a politician before. Somehow I just feel inspired by looking at him. why is that? what is it about Obama that is moving?

I do feel the comparison to Kennedy is accurate. I was too young at the time but i think that this how people felt about him.

42. I was almost fourteen when Kennedy was running for president
and although I was not caught up in it, my family was still republican, I remember most of my classmates were and one day some of the kids were in tears because someone had said that Pat Nixon was prettier than Jackie and one of the younger teachers at my high school was consoling them. I was kind of laughing inside at them, because I found it all funny than anyone could be so caught up in politics and the people involved. Here I am at 62 and understand it all too well. ;)

By the way, after the election my mother loved the Kennedy's and especially Jackie and the children. I thought her heart was going to completely break when Jack was killed and I now regret that I was not more understanding of her during that time. She also loved Bobby Kennedy and would have probably voted for him. She died in May of 1968, two months after Martin Luther King Jr. was killed and 1 month before Bobby's death. That was a hard year in my life.

28. You really can't blame the rethugs for resenting this man and his confidence.
They try to reframe it as ego or overconfidence or presumptuousness.

But he's just normal and happy, and that's alien to the McCains and GOP.

All their money really makes them miserable.

37. Sometimes little things are big clues...
...about people.

I know this may sound silly, but I love that Sasha is wearing a red top, jeans
and purple socks. She looks adorable and lovely. I have a daughter that age,
and I bet you anything that Sasha selected that outfit. It's delightful.
It's exactly how my daughter would dress on a Saturday afternoon. She'd pick
a shirt she likes, some comfortable jeans, and her favorite wild color of socks--not
because they match, but just because she likes them.

I just think this is so cool. This family isn't pretentious. They don't dress up
their children like props. They know the cameras will be all over them, and they
just let those kids be kids.

Those purple socks are the most beautiful thing I've seen today.

49. Exactly. And her 'Corpse Bride' costume was clearly homemade, too.
The Palin kids had commercial costumes. You could imagine Michelle and Sasha making her costume together. I always notice that the kids often wear clothes that kids in thousands of neighborhoods around the country would wear. A real down to earth family.
