Obama Table teaser: A Freeper brings up Obama's aunt as an "issue"
I'm going to have an OP on the final Obama table in Madison shortly, but wanted to share an experience with a Freeper who wanted to make an issue of Obama's aunt found in Boston.

I was tabling and getting a lot of great response when some older and his wife walked up and started yelling at me "what about his aunt! What about his aunt!"

For a second, I felt like Joe Biden and thought he was joking, but he pressed on and asked me again about Obama's aunt. Apparently, there is an aunt who lives in Boston that is homeless or something and the story appeared yesterday or the day before.

So I asked why it's an issue. "Was it an issue that Cindy McCain, who always said she was an only child, had a half-sister who recently died in a special home somewhere?" The guy didn't know about it. I then asked "do you have a crazy aunt?" He jumped the shark without thinking and said "yes". I asked what he's doing about his aunt. He appeared baffled by his own admission and was suddenly completely out of ammo. He then muttered about how it's going to "be an issue" and walked away saying McCain was going to win.

Perhaps I went over the top, but just to make his day a little worse, I yelled "get used to it, pal... President Barack Hussein Obama!" His wife, some little wretch, yelled some indeciferable words and the word "muslim". Off they went to crawl back into their hole.

1. hahaha! Great story
For the life of me, I'll never understand anyone who tries to make an issue out of the family of the man who abandoned Barack when he was just a boy. It disgusts me that anyone would try to make it Barack's responsibility to create bonds with the people who didn't step up when he needed them the most.

2. I'm getting sick of these nuts who seek
a justification to be racist. Your answer was perfect. Every family has a crazy aunt or uncle. If you think your family doesn't have one, then it's probably you. Ha.

6. Here's the letter I wrote and sent to all of the "pundits" and such on this subject.....
With thanks to a couple of DU posters, including ProSense in particular as I lifted most of the words I used in my letter verbatim directly from her post.

Dear,

You may have noticed that the AP is reporting that Barack Obama's aunt was denied asylum in the US four years ago and is now living illegally in Boston. Convenient timing, isn't it?

This "Aunt" is actually the daughter of Obama's Granfather through his third wife. Hussein Onyago is Aunti Zeituni's and Uncle Omar's father, and therefore is his half Aunt. Zeituni would be the daughter of Auma, whom Obama refers to as his "Grandmother", though Barack Obama's real granddmother on his father's side is Akuma.

The real story, though, is down in the third paragraph of the AP story ...

Information about the deportation case was disclosed and confirmed by two separate sources, one of them a federal law enforcement official. The information they made available is known to officials in the federal government, but the AP could not establish whether anyone at a political level in the Bush administration or in the McCain campaign had been involved in its release.

That's about as transparent a red flag as an outfit like the AP is usually willing to give. And there you have it. Quite likely working in concert with the McCain campaign, a Bush administration official is leaking details on an immigration case to try to help McCain three days before the election. It's shades of Bush I's riffling through Bill Clinton's passport files just before the 1992 election in a desperate last minute gambit as they were swirling down the drain.

Note too that the story first got leaked to the Times of London, a Murdoch paper with a history of taking planted stories from Republicans for siphoning back into the US media. This should instead be another Republican fraud to investigate. This is a despicable, and the AP deciding to run the story with the rest of the media in tow shows exactly what the Associated Press and the assisting media is all about.

Those in the media repeating the McCain talking points that the media is biased towards Barack Obama are ridiculous and are only using this as cover and as an excuse in their attempt to stop an Obama presidency at the cost of anything resembling journalistic ethics. This is election tampering at its lowest, and should be seen as such.

Respectfully,

XXXXXXXXX

7. Excellent letter, FC!
I hadn't really drilled down into this "aunt story", which is conveniently released so close to the election.

The main point is that to somehow think people would even care about a candidate's aunt's status is just flat out intellectually dishonest at best.

10. You Are a Sitting US Senator With An Illegal Alien Relative and Presidential Ambitions. You:
A: Sit on the knowledge for four years and hope no one finds out.

B: Do everything you can to remove the red tape blocking her path to citizenship.

The idea that Obama had knowledge of her illegal status, let alone that his status as a senator would not automatically give her an 'in' is baffling.

I can only conclude that either he didn't know about it until very recently, or that someone is making up things.
