Anybody remember "Sorry Everybody" from 2004?
http://www.sorryeverybody.com/

I remember I hung out here for weeks, in a deep depressed daze over Kerry's loss. It was good to see the response of people from around the world who understood that not everyone in our country is a brainless raving lunatic. It helped me get back on my feet.

And on the verge of a possible Obama victory, I remember this site again with fondness. And with excitement at the long, long night finally being over.

1. If we help get Obama elected, then...
...afterwards we can say to the world, "You're welcome."

(Another DUer came up with that; I don't know who.)

2. Boy I do
I lived on that site for a month. Even gave up DU for awhile for SoSorry. What a great concept it was.

3. Wow, you remember that daze too?
I was a friggin' zombie that first week with two words booming in my brain: "HOW" and "WHY"

This is why I'm fighting the urge to take solace in the poll numbers and the notions that President-Elect Obama's going to clean up on Tuesday. OK, I'm not doing such a good job, I know...

4. Yes
I remember it really well. I was so ashamed of half of the people in our country.

8. I spent hours on that site!
Wow, I had forgotten! It helped me get through the unbearable heart ache a little. Even so, I don't plan on visiting it ever again.

10. I stopped visiting DU after the 2004 election
I didn't want to hear any political news and kept the radio off so I didn't have to hear anything about Bush or hear his voice. I'd say, mostly my mood was anger. And as someone else wrote here, I was angry at my fellow Americans.

I did check out sorryeverybody and found it consoling like a friend who shows empathy after you've just experienced a big loss.

12. Yes. I also remember "we'renotsorryeverybody" more, though.
This November, I think we should make such a website. They'll be glad to know that the happiness is getting spread around.

14. I remember being sickened and repulsed by the gun-toting, Confederate flag waving
imbecilic monsters on that disgusting website.

Maybe after Tuesday, God willing, they'll crawl in a hole and stay there for eight years; or, God willing, forever...

13. I remember!
But, um, can we get a little knock on wood? All the confidence around here is starting to remind of . . . well, . . . of 2004. And you remember how that turned out, right?

Edited on Sat Nov-01-08 10:46 PM by 321Outright
i just posted a link to it in another thread 'bout an hour ago :p

man.. i was so depressed after the election was called. It was my 1st time voting. i was 19 and vehemently against bush, the war, the unconstitutional policies.. all of it.

scrolling through some of it again, heres one i remember identifying strongly with-

I've been thinking on this, and i can honestly say that Obama is an answered prayer for me.
I dreamed of a leader that could unite and inspire enough people to lead this country down the right path. Its hard to sum this up, so i'll just say that in so many ways, Obama has already proven to be the type of leader i was waiting for.

In 2004, during his convention speech, i was so moved, so inspired. I wept.
The sentiment of that speech... the sense of unity, national pride, and hope that i felt - the same feelings that were later challenged by bushs "win", have come full circle, and i believe, will come to full fruition on Nov. 4th.

This time will be different.
The pendulum is finally swinging back :)

18. www.wediditworld.org
Hola,

I found this site when trying to find out what software the "Sorry Everybody" site used. I decided to actualize my hope, and I registered "http://wediditworld.org" in the hopes that I'd be able to put up something like the "Sorry Everybody" folks did, should Obama win.

Does anyone know, from a technical standpoint, how they operated that site? -ProfJ

20. four years ago I called my best political friend, and just cried like a baby.....
I kept saying over and over, "I can't believe they voted him in again". It felt worse when the Packers lost Super Bowl XXXII. Am still not over either one.
