... And I Approve of This Message
I try to be careful in pointing out that whatever views, comments, or opinions I post here are mine alone – I don’t deign to speak for anyone other than myself.

However, tonight I will go out on a limb – one that I am confident is safe and secure – and say that in posting the following, I am sure beyond all reasonable doubt that I am speaking for the vast majority of DUers – and Democrats everywhere:

Thanks to all of you who have contributed your time and efforts to the Obama campaign, and to getting the vote out.

Thanks to all of you who have phone-banked, gone door-to-door, and organized your communities, neighbors and friends to ensure a big turnout on Tuesday.

Thanks to all of you who have taken the time to talk to a reluctant voter, and have had the patience to explain why this election matters, and why their vote counts.

Thanks to all of you who have contributed financially to Democratic candidates, especially those who gave more than they could reasonably afford – because they realized the importance of doing so.

Thanks to all of you who spread the message of hope and change at the water-cooler in the office, on the convenience store check-out line, in the parking lot at the local bowl-o-rama – and wherever and whenever you felt you could do some good.

Thanks to all of you who wrote LTTEs to newspapers, who emailed your local news networks and called them on their mis-information, who phoned and faxed the MSM and gave them a dose of your vitriol when they got the facts wrong in a transparent effort to get their bias extremely right.

Thanks to all of you who volunteered to drive a neighbor to the polls so they could cast their vote, and all of you who didn’t bother to ask who they might vote for – because voting was the important part.

Thanks to all of you who demonstrated the audacity of hope by displaying yard signs in neighborhoods you knew they’d be unwelcome, by affixing bumper-stickers to cars in counties you knew they’d be unacceptable, by wearing T-shirts and buttons in places you knew they’d garner more grief than gratitude.

Thanks to all of you who posted your positive messages here – anecdotes about the long-time Republican voter who is voting for Obama, stories about the first-time voter who has been moved to get involved after years of non-participation in the process; inspiring posts about the grand-daughter of slaves voting to put a black man into the Oval Office and what this election means to her.

Thanks to all of you who were willing to risk the loss of family relationships and long-time friendships because it was more important to speak UP for what you believe in than be spoken DOWN-to by people armed with nothing more than indefensible RW talking points and unconscionable lies.

And most especially, thanks to all of you whose first choice was not Obama, but who rallied behind him with unprecedented enthusiasm once it was clear he was our nominee.

We are about to win this thing – and win it BIG. But we couldn’t have done it without each and every one of you.

YOU know who you are – and all of us are in your debt. YOU made this happen – YOU are the unsung heroes who have saved our democracy.

So give yourselves a big pat on the back – our imminent victory belongs to YOU, and we won’t forget that.

And on a purely personal note, I am incredibly proud to be in your company - no, really, incredibly, beyond words, can't-express-my-gratitude-enough proud to know you all.

Thanks.

5. Thank you, my dear Nance...
This one hits home for me, especially tonight...

I have NEVER worked this hard for any candidate!

This weekend is turning out to be the most challenging of the campaign, for me, anyway...

I am exhausted. I'm learning how to do new things with the computer...

Scheduling people to come in to work, to do the things I used to do, before I learned the new stuff...

Running around, helping folks who have questions...

Wondering just when I'd have time for a bite to eat, and just where I'd get that bite...Till someone brought us a ton of food!

And endless data entry, changing at the drop of a hat which state we were working on, with different forms every time...

So, I'm really appreciating your generous words...

And that's saying something!

Because you're always meaningful to me...

Thank you...

K&R

7. No...Thank you Nance for your amazing pieces that you kindly
share with us here at DU!

You have a gift that expresses those thoughts that many of us are unable to get down in written form.

Thanks to everyone here at DU for being an amazing, loving and dysfunctional family. Without all of you I might have lost my sanity long ago..

We have 3 days...keep fighting...until the last hour.

9. Yes they did and I am so proud of them!
Many of them did something for the first time, many came out of their shells to pound the pavement and to talk to people.

Many others stood up to their right wing realitives, friends and coworkers and said, "Enough"!

It's like an awakening, we all finally said, "What the hell are we afraid of? The Neocons? Collectively we said, "Screw them"!!

I feel proud!!

18. We will remember this for the rest of our lives . . .
Each and every one of us.

And the children who have been to the rallies and responded to Obama with their trust, their love, and their acceptance -

They will carry the story of these times forward, beyond our lives, as a beacon for the future

And now that we are learning what we are truly capable of,

We will never turn back

We will never be turned back

As we continue- involved, vigilant, and determined

To re-shape policies, lives, and priorities

Also- Eat Shit Republican Assholes- Burn in Hell You Lying Fascist Bastards.

19. Great note

and if anybody is feeling left out just go to the nearest Obama headquarters on Tuesday -- there is still a lot to do on election day and never enough people.

They are going to track down everyone who hasn't voted by noon and get them to the polls.

There is driving and data entering (you use a scanner to enter the data)

Everyone can join in and then watch it together.

20. Thank YOU, Nance!
Your rants have so often helped me to get up, go out, and keep believing in us all.

And JeffR's descriptions of the RNC events were spot on! I shared them with everyone I knew. EarlG's Top Ten helped to open the week with humor (here's hoping that Mrs EarlG and Baby EarlG are well and that EarlG will be back because I'm sure we'll still need him so long as there are CIs); and what can one say about all the group time and effort that selecting, choosing and posting the DUzys must take! They are truly addictive.

Thank YOU, DU! :grouphug: :loveya:

I won't take the credit for what my dearly departed Mom and Dad did...they taught me to "Take My Part" and not let anyone bully me around.

I think that if the democratic party wins the White House and control of congress, they should demonstrate the same type of "nonpartisanship" that the GOP has demonstrated since 2000...it's time to kick some sand back into those ugly faces who have dominated America and had their way, until this country is almost an empty shell.

I hope we can drown the neoCons in their own bathwater!

I hope Obama puts the rule of law back on the table...

I hope the DUers hold our own leaders feet to the fire, just like we have tried to hold the GOP's feet to the fire. I am voting for real "CHANGE" and bye gawd I expect to see it!(in my lifetime)

22. thanks to you as well
and howard dean, hillary clinton, barack and michelle obama...etc.

i will admit that this is the first election i've ever been engaged in this manner. i always voted. and i always voted for the democrat, no exceptions ever. however, until this election year i was always in CA which always goes blue. this year i felt for the first time ever that i could be instrumental in turning a red state (NC) blue, and so i had to do it. not to mention that this election imo is the most important ever in my lifetime. it wouldn't be so if gore had just finished his eight years in office, but it is so.

and so it goes. two days. amen

make it great to be a Democrat at this point in history. Thank you Nance for all your well placed words that inspire and shine the light of reason on the shadow cast on us by the party of the Greedy, Obtuse and Paranoid.
Here's hoping for hugs and smiles on Tuesday night. If my friend wins his race in a heavily slanted Republican congressional district, I'm buying a case of good champagne and skipping the utility bills for a month. I might even get snot slingin' commode huggin' drunk. The headache on Wednesday will pass quickly.

Nance, IMHO, You, Sister, more than most this election cycle have set high the bar of articulate, heart-felt outrage – consistently enhanced by your grown-up calls for truth, justice, fair dealing, forgiveness & gratitude.

Your steady drumbeat of posts have enormously helped to transmute my hard-earned cynicism. And in this process, helped me (and I sense many here @ DU), to stay awake, aware, focused and committed to the enormous work ahead. • Thank you.

During those times when I was SO BUMMED OUT by the corporate media bias, or the lies McCain was spreading, or the prospects of our election being hijacked again by the reich wing, it has been you and others like you who have helped me to see the sunlight through the clouds so I could get back into the fray. Judging by the comments here I'm not the only one.
