Denizens Of D U
Does anybody really believe Obama went from one point down to ten points up over night without any intervening events?

5. Yesterday was Halloween meaning
Only seniors were answering their phones if I had to guess. Let's not forgot that McCain* tends to poll well over the weekends because it's mostly seniors home answering their phones. I'd also venture a guess that a lot of Obama supporters were out volunteering or taking their kids trick or treating.

6. Welcome to the world of statistics.
The first question any statistician has ask - is my sample representative? Good statisticians have to be able to recognize outliers and throw them away.

7. Beside An Obama Victory I Want To See Zoimby Totally Discredited
I believe he is a fundamentally dishonest pollster and betrays the public trust...

9. Why I don't believe yesterday's one day poll, which had McCain ahead...
Isn't is suspicious, that McCain was up on the day that will drop off in Zogby's final poll? It was the last day to get attention without ruining his final results. But that's just my take...

10. Actually if the 'true' spread in the population is Obama + 7....
Edited on Sun Nov-02-08 05:55 AM by nickn777
...you will occasionally get a tie or a very slight McCain lead when you repeatedly grab sample sizes of only 400.

Notice how he got a 10 point Obama lead today. Over time, it will average out to about 7.

11. Zo(m)by's One Day Sample Might Be 200
He counts the afternoon and previous evening as 1/3 of his poll...

Gallup is interviewing 1,000 people a night... That's almost as large as Zo(m)by's three day sample...

12. I can tell you we stopped answering our phone WEEKS ago
Edited on Sun Nov-02-08 06:48 AM by mtnester
we are getting 15-20 robo calls a day now, most of them in the afternoon up until 9:00 PM

we are under siege here in Ohio, and is is pissing us off beyond all belief, and I gotta tell you maybe only seniors are answering, because they were raised that is is rude to not answer.

Right now, unless you have my cell number, you are NOT getting through.
