So ... are you buying champagne?
I want to get some champagne for election night, but I don't want to get my hopes up. I don't want to jinx it.

On the other hand, assuming Obama wins, I want to celebrate with a toast to our new president ... and to history being made! :-)

Should I play it safe and remain low-key or should I throw caution to the wind and buy the bubbly? :)

11. It's not when you buy it that counts...
It's when you chill it.

So feel free to stock up. Just keep it in the liquor cabinet for a couple of days. ;)

15. It's sitting on the counter.
4 years ago, we bought it, and had it chilling. We never opened it that night... I think it was actually many months before we opened it. We bought some this time, better brand this go around - but it's sitting on the counter. I'm not sure if we'll chill it - that will be DHs decision... I'm thinking we keep it out of the fridge just in case, and have it warm. Yeah - I know, it sucks like that.

I don't want to jinx it. It's funny ... I'm usually not a superstitious person, but this election has got me stressed out!

Maybe I should just wait until Wednesday. :-)

32. Nope! Been through this twice already. No champagne til the last lawyer goes home.
Sorry to be such a Debbie Downer, but if you weren't here in 2004 and didn't witness the unbearably humiliating pre-celebration threads that turned to WTF??? threads, then you wouldn't understand.

If you were here on DU for that, then you'd understand.

I won't celebrate in earnest, until McCain concedes and the last lawyer goes home.

Then.. I party like it's 1999!

I'm buying my bottle today. Hopefully to celebrate - that's my plan - but in the worst case scenario, to drown my sorrow in.

Plus we bought other various liquors for the 40-50 attendees at our watch party. Decorator will be here Tuesday morning, caterer will be here later that afternoon with the food and the bartender that night at 6. We are very excited.
