Dick Morris (yesterday): 1 day of Zogby polling is significant
Morris was referring to the one Friday poll that had McCain ahead by one point....hahaha...wonder what he will say today that had Obama ahead by 10 points in Saturday's one day polling....these guys are pathetic!

1. Zogby flipped eleven points in a day?
That doesn't speak well of their methodology.

3. Na', it's normal for any tracking poll.
That's why they never publish the daily numbers because there is always a huge MOE (maybe 6+).

There is a reason they do a rolling average and it's because of this...

5. Not THAT normal...
I'm thinking of dKos/R2K, which does publish their daily numbers.

The most I've seen them shift since they started up in late August was about 4 points from one day to another (i.e. Obama might be +9 one day, +5 the next). A swing of 11 points is not normal for a well-run tracking poll.

8. It's happened before.
The shift was weird, no doubt. Maybe not 10 points, but there have been huge shifts in Gallup (showing McCain only down 1 or 2 points).

4. When the daily sample size is only 400 people, it isn't surprising, actually.
That's why they roll 3 daily samples together into a 3-day, 1200 person poll -- to reduce the margin of error.

7. I see. That is small. Guess that's the weakness in the method.

10. Zogby's biggest problem
is that he over-analyzes his daily numbers. His alarming headlines of insight into daily wild fluctuations is ridiculous. And of course, we know all too well that he's using Drudge to hype it up.
