Twas the Night Before Tuesday
Twas the Night Before Tuesday

Submitted by newsound14 on November 2, 2008 - 1:13am.

Twas the night before Tuesday throughout the campaign,
Republicans pleaded voters not use their brain.
While ads and stump speeches and flyers proclaimed,
Obama is scary he must be defamed.

With no plan for an economy half dead,
Palin and McCain must frighten us instead.
With lies and with smears and ridiculous crap,
Their campaign plays us all for ignorant saps.

While watching the news there arose such chatter,
I said to my wife they are mad as a hatter.
Eight years of these dopes caused our markets to crash.
They want four more to give the wealthy more cash.

While jobs disappear and businesses don't grow,
McCain distracts us with his full-scale smear show.
When what to my wondering eyes should appear,
One rising above all the slanderous smear.

With a master plan to get US out of hock,
I knew in a moment it must be Barack.
He spoke of the changes we all need to make,
America’s future is what is at stake.

Now jobs! Infrastructure! Now national defense!
Education! Healthcare! Our task is immense!
To waste time dividing America with fear,
Is at worst insidious at best insincere.

Obama has traveled to blue states and to red,
And I hope you have listened to what he has said.
We are all of US Americans proud and brave,
We must all WORK AS ONE for our future to save.

His eyes were like steel! his voice was like thunder!
Why would this man go through this gauntlet I wonder.
With a top legal mind and prestigious degrees,
He could be quite wealthy living life with ease.

A heartland moral compass and ethic to work,
Has driven Obama to slog through the murk.
So go out and VOTE! It is our obligation,
Barack Obama will unite this great nation.

We can all be cynical, jeer, mock and critique,
But when all this is over in less than a week,
Will we all be inspired with hope from this man?
I hope that all of you answer YES WE CAN!

2. Har-har! And ho-ho-ho!
My favorite part...

"With a master plan to get US out of hock,
I knew in a moment it must be Barack."

---------

But let me add this...

While we dance in the streets all through the night
Come morn, there is something we have to put right.
The bells of the reindeer ring out the alarm:
"'Trade secret' vote counts can still do us harm!"

In 2-10 and 2-12, and for decades to come,
these evil machines can undo what is done.
So, party on, children, and enjoy your revel,
and remember to throw these machines to the devil.
