What Time Will Election Results Start Rolling In?
I'm overseas in Asia for business and want to make sure to watch the results as soon as they start coming in, what time do you think that will start in EST? 7pm? 8pm? later?

2. Really? I thought they started coming in after each state closes its polls
the last state doesn't close until past midnight.

4. You are correct.
Results will start rolling in and networks will project (when they can) after polls close in a particular state.

8. there will be projections starting right at 7:00 est, but it will be an hour or so before anything
interesting is tabulated. Only the blow outs can be projected early

I expect the best stuff to be from about 7:30 - 10:30 est

9. The poster below says it's not until all state polls close
to dissuade people in later time zones from not voting.

I vaguely remember that. So are you sure?

6. They can't recite the results until every state has finished their voting or it
would turn people away from the polls. The results therefore might be very late if there are long lines and machine problems.

14. once the entire state closes it's polls the projections start. Remember Florida in 2000?
the problem there was that a tiny corner in the western panhandle is on central time while the rest of the state is on eastern.

This caused a big part of the fuck up because they started talking about Florida an hour before the polls closed in that part of the state.

7. That's a very cool map
We'll start getting an idea at 6:00 PM, with IN's poll's closing. If the state is "too close to call", it will be good news because the Chicago East Side (North West IN), will have a lot of Obama support. But I'm not sure if the networks will call a state before all the polls in that state have closed. I hope they won't and will wait until 7:00 to call IN one way or the other.

I can't believe it will end in two days. Wow.

13. I think it will take some time until IN (and other close states) is called.
It took hours in the primary because the results were so close after Gary reported.

16. The bulk of Indiana will close at 6 PM EST, close statewide at 7 PM EST.
If Indiana isn't called for McCain at 7 PM EST, then it's all over. I'll go out on a limb and declare that.

If Indiana is too close to call at 7 PM EST, then we could be looking at an Obama landslide.
