Video the Vote is a national initiative to protect voting rights by monitoring the electoral process. We organize citizen journalists—ordinary folks like you and me—to document election problems as they occur. And then we distribute their footage to the mainstream media and online to make sure the full story of Election Day gets told.

Document elections in your area, upload to the site, and watch videos posted by others.

1. No picture taking or videotaping is allowed inside polling places

here in Michigan. You have to have permission as a member of the press.

2. they are looking for more than just what happens inside the polls

They are looking for interviews in the lines or documentation of any issues that might happen in your area.

I am taking part in this for People for the American Way myself but it all goes to the video your vote site and to PBS as well.

Video the Vote is a great organization.

I esp encourage those in swing states and voter suppression areas to do this. You just need to be available, on stand by, in case there are problems reported in your area.

I got my badges yesterday and am VERY excited to be a part of protecting democracy.

You can still volunteer for Obama while you are videoing the vote, because you are on stand-by. I'm doing both.

Thanks for your interest! I feel like a kid again; my enthusiasm for this election, my desire to make sure people get to vote...I know I sound like Pollyanna, but it feels great to have hope and actions to take to do my part.
