1. Stupid? Hardly. The will vote on election day.
I don't like to early vote because I like the excitement of voting on election day. Most young people, especially first time voters, are of the same mindset.

2. Wait until after election day, then judge the youth vote.
I voted early, but a lot of my peers prefer to vote on election day.

3. I voted...so did my 21-year-old brother
He stood in line for 3 hours to vote in Miami. My best friend was going to vote yesterday but was intimidated by the 3-hour line in Arlington...she promised she's going to vote Tuesday though. Most of my other friends have voted, but I am worried that the long lines will keep some young people who aren't as passionate as we are from voting.

He also said their overall numbers are increasing in proportion to the rest of the voters. Quite simply it's a high turn out year election, their numbers are staying steady to the 2004 percentages.

The young are known for putting things off until the last minute.

9. Every election year it's the same thing with the youth
and election every year they show up, but not in the numbers we want or need. Still, I think the huge African American turnout in lots of cities this year is more important than any youth vote.

20. Exactly.
Back in 1980, I had to vote absentee as I was out-of-state in college. One wonders if Gallup knows how many absentee ballots that were submitted are from younger voters who are away at school or in the military?

29. WRONG! I am a woman. A young woman with two kids, and a house and mortgage.
I pay my taxes, I have voted in 3 elections and this will be my fourth. You know who calls me naive and a kid? My Republican parents who think I am stupid for voting for Obama and Biden. Call me anything you want but never ever call me a dumb naive kid. 18-22 year olds are "kids". I have been through too much in my life to ever be considered a kid anyways. I have diabetes and have almost died and gone in a diabetic coma. So I guess I have been around the block a few times.

43. That's my response every time
I saw a map showing the electoral vote for Kerry/Bush if only the votes of people 30 and under were counted. Kerry had something like 330 electoral votes and won in Ohio, Mississippi, Colorado, New Mexico and Nevada among other places. What do those places have in common? Except for Mississippi, they're all states that are being targeted by Obama in this cycle. Looks like the "kids" were ahead of the curve four years ago, eh?

47. I am so SICK of people dissing young people.
Please try to remember that the ONLY age group that Kerry won was the YOUTH vote. So who was "stupid", older voters who went for the war criminals or younger people who went for Kerry? Why don't you spread some of the blame to middle aged and older voters who voted for Bush, rather than dumping it at the feet of young people?

My "stupid" 19 year-old son has voted in every election since he turned 18 and turned in his absentee ballot long ago.

were not very impressive

only very slightly better than the terrible youth turnout for previous prez elections

you can't deny the facts....the youth vote is the demographic slice least likely to vote, with very low % turnouts
