Frank Newport of Gallup said the lead "may" tighten today when they release their numbers
on MSNBC. He wasn't definitive, but he seemed to hint at it a few times. Though he did say that it is very unlikely that McCain will pull this off given the polling, and that he saw no reason to believe undecideds would break McCain's way as a block.

1. I thought he was just tossing a crumb out to McCain supporters...
Because he'd suggested things wouldn't change much at this point.

4. Maybe, but he speficially said the lead may tighten after last night's results are reported
and given that he knows last night's results, he probably wouldn't have said that if it weren't the case.

13. The way he said it reminded me of a parent telling the kids that the sun "may" come out...
...when it's pouring outside.

Ten points would be the biggest blow out in twenty four years...

Did he say a lil tightening or major tightening?

9. It sounded more like a lil than major. He specifically said there was unlikely to be major change
between now and November 4th.

But he did say that the polls "may" tighten a little today after they report their results (in response to the anchor constantly saying "Obama has a 10 point lead! Obama has a 10 point lead!"). It definately did not sound major, and he specifically said there wasn't a clear trend either way.

3. I'd be wary of the weighting on whatever they put out
Depending on if it's "likely voters" or not. But yeah, I seriously doubt the U's will go McCain's way as a big block. Just will not happen.

5. I'll be happy never to hear the word tighten again
There's no tightening whatsoever except in the Republican mind.

7. Considering Obama's leading by 11, 10, and 10 by their polling...
...I'm not really worried about a little tightening. Even if McCain surged ahead by 2 in each model and Obama fell behind by 2 (which is just about the most a gallup poll can can possibly change in one day), Obama still has a comfortable lead.

8. Gallup
This suggests Mccain may go up a couple of points In the likely voter model.Still when Gallup which had Bush up by 2 In 2004 has a lead by over 5 for Obama things are bad for Mccain.

10. I wouldn't be surprised if it tightens
but I doubt it will be by enough...plus, Frank has said before in the morning "Oh, polls will definitely tighten today!", and then later Obama is down by a point, to 9 or something.

11. Obama leads by 10 in their LV models. If it goes back to even 5 its still good for us.

12. It will probably move back to an 8-9 point lead. That's fine.
