My brilliant but unfortunately now-deceased father told me something very important:
the most accurate newspaper in the United States is The Racing Form. This publication for gamblers Never ever contains lies or BS placed by the publisher. Sources who outright lie are cut off forever. To be blunt, you just don't screw with the Professional gamblers.

And so therefore, my psyche is saved by Intrade, wherein McCain's chances are asymptotically approaching as low as they can get. You can bet your bottom dollar that if there were half a chance that McCain could actually pull this off, his Intrade value would be much higher. In fact, what you're seeing is simply the hedging of bets by big bettors AND the lunacy brigade.

1. If it's so damned certain, why is it called "gambling"?

3. Ah...you ask a good question:
Insider knowledge is critical...it's only gambling for the schmuck who knows nothing like you and me. Now I would be worried if tonight, someone(s) came into Intrade and started putting big money down and it suddenly started to shift. But that ain't gonna happen.

Intrade, I guarantee you, is more accurate than ANY poll, and don't forget, most mathemeticians will tell you that it's the election simulations which carry greater weight for predictons: taking the errors of the polls into account all the way around. these show Obama winning 95% or more of the time last I looked.

2. My father loved the ponies, and, with all due respect, I think your father was incorrect!

4. OK...
show me an article or series of articles in The Racing Form wherein the publishers deliberately changed the info to suit someone's preferences. If this were known to have happened their circulation would drop like a stone.
