Dick Cheney Threw John McCain Under the Bus
and backed over him. His endorsement was CLEARLY not meant to help him. It's well known that Rumsfeld and Cheney can't stand McCain. Why Cheney would wait until the 11th hour to endorse McCain in this flashy fashion is just unbelievable. Good for us, but unbelievable.

Maybe in some strange way, Cheney was trying to help Obama. After all, they are cousins.

2. I can't imagine how, in any way, Cheney's endorsement could help McCain.
He didn't have to make an endorsement at all. Why??? The only conclusion is that his ego made him do it, or maybe he felt it was his duty. Cheney is so puffed up he really doesn't give a crap about his low approval ratings, so I don't think his endorsement was meant to hurt McCain. I don't know. Weird.

4. I think Cheney wants Obama in because he figures that the mess
he and Bush have left is so horrendous that Obama will be a one term President. By 2012, McCain will be out of the picture and Cheney can hand pick the Republican candidate.

9. Possibly
After all, he's done so much for our country. I can't understand why the Repukes didn't want him at their convention. They were riding his coattails in 2000 and 2004, sucking at the tit for 8 years, and now all of a sudden, they don't know a brother.

Cheney should let everyone in the world know that McCain would continue on with his and Bush's policies. Besides, every word of it would be true.

7. As I recall, Lynne Cheney was very proud that Barack was Dick's eighth cousin
Edited on Sun Nov-02-08 11:17 AM by ClarkUSA
Her words at the time she revealed this fact on CNN was something to the effect: "Imagine what the odds are that
one family would have descendants at this level of political success in this country!" She sounded like a favorite
aunt and didn't have anything bad to say about Obama at all which was very unusual. In fact, none of the Cheneys
(daughters included) have slammed Obama this year. I'll bet blood is thicker than party for them. Some people
are like that.

10. It was very obvious that she couldn't hide her pride in that familial tie.
Edited on Sun Nov-02-08 11:23 AM by ClarkUSA
I'm good at reading people. She was uncharacteristically unbitchy and gushing about her family's political genius genes
which was funny considering how I feel about her husband relative to how I feel about Obama. She declined to say anything
bad about Barack, too. Believe me, it made an impression because I was fully expecting something snide to come out of her
mouth.

Most of us are probably eighth cousins with 20% of Americans.

13. I doubt most of us are cousins to either Barack Obama or Dick Cheney.
But it was wierd to see Lynne Cheney being pleased as punch to be related by marriage to the Democratic nominee.
