Biscuits!

finally after all these months this room will be returned to the DU:Biscuit forum
many of us who were and hope to remain biscuiteers have a few requests though before retaking the forum

will all walls and floors please be sanitized?as we are a cooking forum the room as is needs to be aired and cleaned thoroughly ceilings too i think!

will all graffiti be removed?and all campaign signage?

will someone throw out the uncast asparagus?

will someone get that damn lolkat out of the ovens?

and our first topic of biscuitry for our reformed forum will be
when making lard based biscuits is self rendered better than store bought?
discuss amongst yourselves and we will begin taking discussion posts on the subject(or any subject biscuit related you wish to use)as soon as mccain concedes

I've never understood the biscuits/gravy thing. Yuck. I like 'em with honey, or butter myself.

7. Maybe you need to try them with creamed chipped beef.....

...also known as "dried beef gravy".

Wondermous...


1/2 stick butter (NO margarine or "spread"....that's blasphemy.)
1/4 c. flour
2 pkg. Dried Beef (Armour or Hormel)
2 c. warmed milk
Black pepper

Optional seasonings:

Celery salt
Coleman's Dry Mustard
Lea & Perrin's Worcestershire sauce
Cayenne pepper

Melt butter and add flour to make a roux
Cook for 2 min. and season with a dash or two of Worcestershire, 1/4 t. mustard, celery salt, black pepper and cayenne to taste
Add warm milk and dried beef (tear beef into shreds of desired size)Use more or less milk to get desired thickness

Stir and cook to thicken

Serve over toast (my favorite) or biscuits.
