moderate republicans... the more intellectual and fiscally oriented moderates... are sick of the culture wars.
they are planting their stake in a more reasonable, centrist approach to conservatism.
indeed, they hate EVERYTHING sarah palin represents.

15. Heh...you KNOW you've entered Bizarro world |
|
when someone writes a sentence implying that "george will, david brooks, chris buckley, david gergen, peggy noonan, kathleen parker, etc." are "moderate" anything.
For them to be against McCain is truly telling.
But that McCain/Palin is still polling over 40% nationally makes me afraid for my country. We may win the Presidency but the right wing spin machine will be working hard to undermine Obama every step of the way, with 40% of the country behind them.

it's true.
i realize a lot of partisans and frankly... ideologues... can only see a caricatured far-right in anybody who's conservative or republican, but these people are not the neocons... they are not the religious-right wing... they are not the culture warriors.
obviously 99.999% of DU would disagree with many of the things they say, but they are MODERATES for the most part.
and folks need to snap out of the same extreme partisanship we've seen dominate the nation for the last 8 years.

that people like Peggy Noonan, Kathleen Parker and David Brooks are considered "moderate" :eyes:. Exactly how many Bush policies have these guys really disagreed with again?

12. that's important to remember...Having said what he's said about |
|
the McC/P campaign, he wouldn't go out on this limb unless he had the best information available. He wouldn't just trust the ABC poll, he'd ask the professionals he knows.

|
i'm not convinced yet, but it certainly looks like it could be true.
if obama hits 50% popular vote and breaks 375 EVs... we're definitely in a new era where the fundamental identity of america has shifted, with a lot of the middle rejecting the culture wars.
