Barack Obama!
It feels good to have it in! The older threads have expired, so let's start a new one.
Kick and Rec after you've successfully voted OBAMA!

2. Why not? Maybe OH is excessively "church-y" but not so much other places. |

5. Turned in my AV ballot! |
|
Sunday seemed like the perfect time. That way I avoid the long lines on Tuesday and the crowd at the city clerks office tomorrow!

4. Yes, my summer home is CO |
|
So when I go at the start of the summer I'm a "flatlander" but when I return to MI in the fall I'm a highlander :)
I'm really hoping CO goes blue this year! That will make both of my home states blue!

6. I went to CSU. My mom was raised in Ft Collins. We had for many years |
|
a cabin in Alma (near Fairplay) that was our base of operations for skiing and hiking and backroad exploring.
Never took up much in the way of mountaineering until I came to CA, though, lol (and that was 15-20 yrs ago).

I'm on a quest to climb all 54 14ers. Actually, I'd like to do the centennial peaks. One of my climbing friends is trying to be the first person do all 100 highest in the winter!
Wow! You lived in Alma! I wish I could find a cheap summer cottage in Alma. Its higher than Leadville and I think it is the highest place were there is a village in the US as far as I'm aware. A great place to acclimatize coming in from Michigan.
I'd headed for Rainier and some of the peaks in the Cascades this coming summer. What should I climb in California? I'd like to get Shasta and Whitney when I get the chance.

8. Oh, you MUST do Whitney. From the East side, of course. Just be sure |
|
to do all your homework online re permits and regulations. Apparently these days you have to pack out all your human waste. But Whitney is really a MUST SEE.
If you want to be farther from the crowds, there are a lot of other good Sierra jumping off points on the east side. Mammoth is one. Bishop/Crowley Lake. You can check the maps, it's all worth seeing.
