If current conditions hold, in 2009 Idaho will be the only state in the country... |
|
...with no Dems representing the state at a national or executive level.
Right now, every state has at least one Democratic Senator, Representative, or a Governor except for two--Alaska and Idaho. (Yes, even Wyoming and Utah fall into the former category--thanks to Dave Freudenthal and Jim Matheson, respectively)
But next year, Alaska is almost certainly getting its first Democratic Senator in 27 years, and its first At-Large Representative in 37 years. That leaves only Idaho, where apparently not even Larry "Wide-Stance" Craig can keep those potato farmers from going red.

1. my mom and sister live in Boise - and they're both liberal... |
|
though moderately so. Sister actually is a very strong dem., and my brother in law is republican but of the nonoffensive variety (he is very offended by Bushco; probably voted for Obama). Boise is an interesting place - definitely 'red' but not the same sort of red as the southern states (where I live). The high Mormon population probably has a lot to do with the state's representation.
