Time Running Out on Palin Medical Records Release

With less than 48 hours until polls open, it remains unclear whether GOP vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin will release her medical records.

Nearly a week ago, her spokeswoman Tracey Schmitt said the campaign was preparing "a release of information regarding her medical history" which "will happen sooner rather than later."

No such information has yet been released, and Schmitt did not respond to e-mails seeking comment on the matter.

Honolulu and Sacramento are the meth capitals of the U.S. All three are in marijuana growing regions that were heavily affected by federal campaigns. Anyone who went to college on the West Coast in the 90s probably remembers the "Matanuska Thunderfuck," named after the valley where Wasilla is located, the only agricultural region of Alaska. It was a golden-colored strain that was more potent than anything else on the market back then.

What happens when a local, rural economy that is used to a certain level of revenue from growing herb suddenly loses the capacity to grow? Local people look to other illegal substances that can be produced indoors, where the helicopters can't see it. Hence, regions like Northern California, the Matanuska Valley, and most of the Hawaiian islands, which should be producing and exporting high-quality herb the way regions of France have their own grape varietals and signature wines, are instead ravaged by methamphetamine abuse.
