Throughout the nation, Democrats and progressives are working to get out the vote.

A BuzzFlash reader, Sarah, sent this photo of the charming Democratic headquarters in Kennebunkport, Maine.

Over the past 8 years, we've come to admire the plucky Democrats in the ancestral summer mansion home of the Bush family. They've protested Bush and his policies in a dignified yet visible manner.

This year, the task of public protest in a candidate's home area has fallen to the women of Alaska, who have more than once come out in large crowds to object to the radical right wing views of Sarah Palin.

From Kennebunkport to Anchorage, we are reminded of the power of protest.

To all those who have not stood idly by these last 8 years, we tender a sincere appreciation for your commitment to democracy.

To the Democratic Party stalwarts in Kennebunkport, thanks for keeping up the vigil through the Bush nightmare. It's almost over.

3. Thank you for posting this.

It won't be much longer and Kennebunkport will once again belong to it's citizens. They have had to put up with so much traffic, police presence, crowds, etc. whenever W would come to town. And yes, I also owe the fine people of Kennebunkport an apology because I also caused them some heartburn whenever I would go there to protest bush and the Iraq war.
