Weather on Tuesday.

So all of VA, and NC covered in rain, while in PA, Philly and the rest of the eastern part of the state with rain and the Western part sunny and 70 degrees.

Is that good or bad? I'm unfamiliar with the demographic effects of weather on voting.

1. Better forecast graphic here.....

The precipitation on the east coast will move off at 7:00 AM, although a cold front is moving through the upper mid-west it will be dry and the precipitation in the northwest is usual for this time of year.

Nothing that should deter voters this election year.

2. Ah, so the only really heavy stuff will be in the West and part of NC.
And NC has early voting. Even if there was rain, I'd hope that Dems would get off their asses and go out in it to vote.

3. I saw a report on the Weather Channel
that said based on the last 14 elections, bad weather favors Republicans. They didn't say why or what the source of the data was.

4. I've been doing some research for the last few minutes and
they say that Democratic voters tend to be less reliable and stay in if the weather is cold and rainy. Hopefully this isn't your typical election year.

6. Probably because there have always been more voting booths in the repuke areas
Edited on Sun Nov-02-08 05:02 PM by BrklynLiberal
so the voters do not have to stand out in the bad weather. There have been minimal voting booths put in the Democratic areas, therefore long lines ensue, and people have to wait a long time to vote, and some give up...or leave when they see the lines.

I remember seeing people waiting in line in low-income areas of Ohio well into the middle of the night. It was pitch black out and there were still long, long lines.

5. Here is what I got from Weather Bug!
On Tuesday, long lines will likely be an issue at the polls, but will weather play a role in your Election Day? Other than a storm tracking across the Northwest and a few showers along the Carolina Coast, the weather should not stop voters from casting their vote.

A storm system making its way into the Northwest will spread light rain showers from the Pacific Northwest to the northern Plains. These rain showers may turn to, or mix with some wet snow in a few cities such as Denver, Salt Lake City and Boise, Idaho.

The other area of weather will be found along the Carolina Coast. Here, a developing weather disturbance will draw plenty of moisture onshore, resulting in scattered showers throughout the day. Voters along the Atlantic Coast form Virginia Beach, Va., to Savannah, Ga., should keep an umbrella handy when hitting the polls on Tuesday.

Elsewhere across the nation, little weather is expected.

Sunny skies and comfortable temperatures will dominate across the Northeast, Midwest, Deep South, Florida, Southern Plains and Southwest this Election Day.
