Poll question: "Chuckie T" Poll: MediaWhore/rebeelzepublican (In Hiding, Sort of), Or Decent Guy |
|
I never did like him, never, goes back to his c-span days. Kind of a pukey little sucker, with his nose up the corporate media's ass, in my opinion anyway.

1. He's a toad. He wants to be kissed by a pretty girl but he's covered |
|
in warts. He wants to break through and show some independence but he's chained to his corporate handlers. Corporate America always wins out.

2. I think he's a decent guy |
|
He's very knowledgeable about polling data and tries to remain honest about each candidate's chance of winning in an election. Some people just hate everybody who ever says a single thing they don't agree with. Completely unreasonable and people shouldn't just live in their small, little bubble.

6. He said that he was raised to hate anything that was northern ... yankee ... |
|
and he wasn't talking about baseball either. I heard him say it on Morning Joe last week, I know the context of the conversation and he meant it. He's from Texas ... the real red part.

Please pardon me as I berate myself.
So what if his parents are die-hard Republicans?

16. His commentary has done more to damage Republicans than Democrats |
|
For example, his off-the-cuff remark about there being no chemistry between McCain and Palin really made it look like McCain chose her as a political gimmick. Plus it's great to see Chuck Todd bring some reality to Scarborough by reminding him about McCain's actual chances on the electoral map.

3. I don't think we do our side any favors... |
|
by ripping down anybody that doesn't say gleaming, positive things about our position in the race 24/7. We're not freepers. Aren't we supposed to be the forward thinking, open-minded side of the aisle? You know, the kind that would be fairly open and responsive to criticism? I just thinks it's childish to immediately discredit any person or any poll that doesn't automatically say unconditionally positive things.

4. Did you see when Todd and Brokaw were being interviewed |
|
about the McCain/Palin interview on NBC? Chuck kept talking about how awkward and uncomfortable it was and Brokaw kept staring daggers at him but he just kept going? That "uncomfortable" meme was then spread all over the MSM! I was like, "Tell it, Chuck, Go soak your head Tom!!"

10. How do we know if it wasn't reverse psychology? |
|
One could argue that he was trying to enhance the talking point about the liberal media being biased against McCain and Palin. :sarcasm:

7. He genuinely loves his job |
|
I don't think Chuck Todd has an agenda or anything, and his analysis is pretty solid most of the time. What I like about Chuck Todd is that he just seems to having a real good time doing his analysis and playing with the numbers.
He doesn't always give the Democrats what they want to hear, but an objective journalist shouldn't do that.

8. If Chuck was shut in a cloistered room of MSNBC's studios |
|
with nothing but polling data and his magic TV (which, by the way, I love...CNN's too--I actually wish I could be in their Situation Room just to see all the new shit they got because I get a massive nerd boner for technology), he'd be a decent guy. He'd be Nate Silver.
As he is now, he's a douche.

14. Other: Media whore, NOT Republican in hiding. |
|
He's looking to get ahead and is willing to do his corporate masters' bidding in order to do so. His masters are telling him to sell a close election to keep viewers tuned in and that's just what he's doing.
He's not secretly advocating for the Republicans or Democrats. He's advocating for himself.

I remember his reports as Hotline Editor on C-SPAN's Washington Journal. Apparantly Russert brought him on board at NBC and mentored him. I always liked Todd... I think it must be a heady experience; he is young and now in the big leagues... I think he calls it as he sees it.
