5. It wasn't very good.
His voice sounded more like Cronkite than Keith.

10. Affleck is a lot more talented than I thought he was. That was a classic!
He also had great writers to bring the essence of Olberman home! A+ for SNL on that skit!

14. I LOVED that! And the photos of the cat in different positions was brilliant

I thought the SNL writers nailed the essence of Keith in the special comment part. Also, the images of Nazi Germany etc. were great!

17. I always knew Ben Affleck couldn't act and he didn't disappoint.
To me this is the best Countdown or KO impersonation ever and only good one:

19. Your video had an OK impression but the duologue sucked. It was boring to watch
Edited on Sun Nov-02-08 08:18 PM by Quixote1818

What made the SNL skit work was the clever writing and him spinning and talking about Mrs. Precious Perfect. Not to mention the cuts to Nazi Germany etc. SNL nailed the essence of Olberman even if Affleck didn't look and sound too much like him. Olberman is colorful person and Affleck tapped into that color in a way the Subway guy didn't.

18. The whole bit sucked except the last 30 seconds or so.
Edited on Sun Nov-02-08 07:59 PM by IanDB1
When he did the "Special Comment" and spun around in his chair, that was funny.

Affleck completely committed to the bit, and I have to give him credit for that.

However, he completely failed to do a good impersonation of Keith Olbermann.

It sounded like Orson Wells meets Mister Rogers with 'roid rage.

It also pissed me off a little, but I'm not going to throw Affleck under the bus for poking some fun at Keith.

People will become curious and tune-in to see the show because of this, I'm sure, and THAT is a good thing.

But what he did... that wasn't Keith.

It was funny though.

21. Didn't care for it.
It's good that NBC isn't above poking fun at their own, but I just didn't think it was funny. They should have Darrell Hammond do a Hardball skit instead. His "Tweety" is excellent.

22. I just wonder where the Hannity and Colmes sketch has been for the past ten years
It's not until a liberal gets big that SNL suddenly wants to attack commentators for being too self-righteous.

30. That's right..I read that the other day
..
"But Olbermann, through a spokesman, was complimentary of his first time being mocked on "SNL" — a position his MSNBC colleague Chris Matthews has been in over the years.

“I’m not Sarah Palin,” Olbermann said. “I know how valuable it is to me. And it’s funny."

31. I didn't think it was that funny at all. This guy does Keith much better:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c4llHNTMZjE

And the writing is far superior, too. He's funnier even without a real stage set to help him.

32. It was the worst impression I've ever seen on SNL
Whoever thought this up doesn't like Keith - but I don't know how the show approved it.

Keith is always VERY respectful of SNL, and the extra coverage of his show on regular network TV will draw him new viewers who haven't been tuned into MSNBC.

I think that his performance on Dave Letterman is responsible for his beating BillO's ratings - since right after appearing with David. A lot of people don't watch cable news, just network news and never heard of KO.

McCain made the crack about whatever cell KO ends up in might have had something to do with the skit. Somebody likes McCain apparently and wanted to support the remark.
