3. Early voting feels like opening my presents before Christmas
I'm glad it's there for people who cannot make it to the polls on Tuesday, but Tuesday is the closest thing I have to a religious holiday (being an atheist and all) every four years. We go vote as a family, have dinner (considering fireworks this year, too), watch the returns come in and take the next day off.

Early voting would just feel wrong to me, somehow and I would only do it if I knew with absolute certainty that I'd have to do early voting or not vote (as in... if I knew I was going to be out of town on a business trip or something).

8. Yeah, I hear you
Just makes it feel that much more festive to me. Of course, I stand in lines for maybe 10 minutes at the most and when I do stand outside, it's in 82 degree weather (being in Florida), so my lot in life is FAR from bad.

5. Sadly, no. No early voting in MO, only
absentee, and that restricted to those who won't be in their jurisdiction at all on Nov. 4.

But I'll be there right after work, with just a quick stop to let the dog out and grab a book to wait out the line!

I live in a state so small it doesn't do early voting

However, this state will deliver the next VP!

9. yep
Went Saturday morning. My oldest son, who is 13, has been extremely interested in this whole process. He was for Obama before I was. We stood in line for 3 hours - totally worth it. I'm so proud of him!

10. Nov. 4 for me
For one because I didn't know much about early voting in my state at the time when we could still vote. Also, I think this being my first presidential election and all, I would like to go on Nov. 4. For some reason voting on election day seems more exciting to me.

14. I tried so hard to wait, but I was too excited
I managed to wait until the last day of EV here in TX. The lines were so long for the past 2 weeks though, that voting early was just as exciting as voting on election day so I was happy. I cast my vote at 8am and managed to keep the goofy grin on my face the entire day. :D

19. Yes, I couldn't wait and after 20 years of NOT voting my husband voted to!
I went to vote my hubby dropped me off and I ran upstairs to go vote. Before long, here comes my husband and he GETS IN LINE!!!!!!!!!!!!! Now mind you my husband hasn't voted in over 20+years. He said that when the popular vote was given to one candidate but the other won with the electoral vote he didn't believe in the system anymore and that the elections were pretty much fixed anyway..... Imagine the arguments that I have had with him over the last 20 years..... Well, getting back to voting, I looked at him like "ha ha, but you know that you FIRST have to register, right?" and he basically just grinned. Well, let me tell you, I almost fell over. Turns out one day when he was giving me a lift to work we passed by the village hall and there was a sign out there about registering to vote, and I, as usual pointed out how convenient it was and that it was a perfect opportunity to register without any hassles. Well he actually listened to me and registered to vote. THEN in my surprise, he actually voted today - for the first time in over 20 years!!!!

I struck up a conversation with one of the election workers, and she told me that they usually have maybe 30 people a day voting in early elections, sometimes it has been 17 people a day - so far this election there has been averaging between 500-600 people voting a day!!!!!!! Today they hit 23,000 votes. They said that has been the total vote in some elections.......

I always said that if we each could get one convert, one extra voter to the polls, we would win by a landside - well today I got my "one" and he was the 23,000rd vote cast( and (23 has always been one of my favorite numbers). I am beyond happy, there are really no words to describe how I feel!!!! Thanks for listening!

21. No early voting here except by absentee ballot -- which is more trouble than just showing up to vote
on election day. My polling place, out here in the middle of nowhere, is only about 3 miles away and there's only a little over 100 registered voters in my precinct. I'll pop over there on Tuesday as soon as I get off work. (it doesn't open early enough to go before work)

27. MN. In person absentee voting last Monday.
You simply fill out a ballot, put it in a sealed certified envelope and it is sent to your precinct to be scanned on election day. You can do this in MN for several reasons among which being away from your precinct on election day qualifies. This will allow me to give maximum time to help GOTV for Obama on Tuesday.

I'm not entirely comfortable with this method because you don't see your vote going into the machine or being counted. You have to trust it will be legally processed on election day.
