A Demoralized Repug in Charlottesville
A GOPer in Charlottesville

A McCain-backing law student in Charlottesville emails, slightly demoralized:

I've been called by the Obama Campaign 20 times in the past week, along with at least one mailer on the door every day and several personal visits. Not a single thing from the McCain campaign.

I'm hoping that the law of diminishing returns means that the excess of GOTV'ing is having a net negative effect.....

I'm as solid a McCain voter as one can be, but it's wearing to have to keep explaining to enthusiastic volunteers why I could possibly oppose Hope and Change - the repetition certainly creates an aura of inevitability. A single phone call or door knock from a Republican would be enormously encouraging.

4. This brings up something I've been wondering about..

I did phone calls today, and a handful or more of people I contacted were a little cranky about having been contacted again. I guess the Obama people don't mind as much. What is the philosophy behind the repetitive phone calls? Or is there one? Just wondering.

9. Frankly, I'm so damn sick of calls.. live and auto, that I don't care who it's from..
.. it's getting so irritating. That's why I'm not a big phone banker, cuz I know how annoying the calls can be. I like the calls on election day to remind folks to vote.. but man, my experience if phone banking is that most people, even the supporters, are getting so damn tired of the calls. It's because ALL the candidates for all the races are calling these folks, from both parties, AND add to that the robocalls.

Used to be that you only called your own party folks.. but now I get more calls from the repubs than I do from the Dems.

17. How would you like to hear from James Hoffa dozens of times?
I'm a long time Teamster and now I feel like we have a new family member in James Hoffa! Way too funny.

5. McCain has a horrible ground game.......
I live here in CO and in the past few days Ive gotten several Obama campaign people drop by my house. Not to mention the calls Ive gotten from them as well, I'm a first time voter and haven't had ONE call from the McCain camp. NOT ONE person from the McCain camp has come knocking on my door. If that repuke law student is bitching about not having any of his republican buddies drop by or give him a call than they should be out canvassing like the Obama people.

19. Well, here's some encouraging news, GOP voters: Sarkozy called Palin Saturday!
This under-reported story could turn the race around! He is looking forward to her presidency and even asked to go hunting with her! At first, only a Canadian radio station covered the story, but a bit of work it should be possible to make more people aware of it -- especially if Palin starts mentioning it in her speeches!
