Poll question: Have We Seen the Last of Steve Schmidt?
After running one of the worst presidential campaigns of modern American politics, I'd have to think so, especially considering that McCain was supposed to have independent and cross-party appeal. Schmidt's kinda like Karl Rove, but instead of being an evil genius, he's just an evil dumb guy.

Schmidt's entire strategy was to float an endless stream of gimmicks. Sometimes they'd provide a bump for a day or two, but most of them just ended up biting McCain in the ass. A candidate would have to be pretty desperate to hire Schmidt to run their campaign after witnessing this sorry display.

Luckily, the guy's so ugly, angry, and plain uninteresting that I don't think he'll even be able to land a job on Fox News.

1. This implies that we've seen SOME of him to begin with....
... and clearly we have not. I dont think anyone's told him he's supposed to be running the campaign.

2. You don't think Joe the Plumber was Schmidt's idea?
They've got the exact same haircut.

OH MY GOODNESS!!!

Seriously! All this time I thought baldy was some third level surrogate!! I am not kidding!!!

THIS is the guy in charge!!!! I wasn't putting the right name with the right face!

OH MY!!! WE ARE SO GONNA WIN ON TUESDAY!!!!

(but to answer your question, of course it was his idea, but does it register high enough on the strategy scale to count? Noop.)

6. Yeah, this election is it for him
He managed Arnold's victory in the runoff after Davis was recalled, a race where his candidate's star power overwhelmed the rest of the field, and the GOP proclaimed him a rising star.

But give him a traditional candidate like McCain, and its obvious the guy has no talent outside of emulating the worst that Rove brought into politics.

He's history in national politics after Nov. 4th.

9. Now that you mention it, that would be pretty cool.
Let's hope he and Palin can mend fences in time for her '12 run.
