Who ever thought Senator Barack Obama would win?
Not me. But I loved him once I figured Rep. Dennis Kucinich wouldn't. I had to pick someone, and I picked Obama. In January, which is why I was annoying so many people.

I feel justified, jazzed, happy. And I can't stop worrying til Tuesday night, but I am optimistic, as usual.

1. I was originally hoping for a Biden/Dodd ticket or a Biden/Obama ticket
but I'm perfectly happy with the upcoming Obama/Biden adminstration. We had a lot of good choices :)

3. I did
I don't know, I always felt that he would be the nominee and then win the general election. Obama just seemed to fit the times better than anyone else plus everyone I knew supported him. I couldn't really imagine having anyone else as the nominee.

4. I told my boss in december of 2006 my dream ticket was Obama/Richardson. I came close
and am very happy with Sen. Biden as VP

and yes I always knew he could win.

I did expect Sen. Clinton to run a better campaign, but I always assumed she would lose.

I also expected any repug to lose this cycle.

14. My dream would've been Gore/Obama
I didn't know much about Richardson and had a lot of hope for him. He disappointed me though. He didn't do well in debates/interviews. He also made a few statements I wasn't happy with. I agree with you about Biden. I'm happy with Biden as VP and he'll do a great job.

I predicted Obama for the Dems and Romney for the Rep. This election was prefect for someone new to Washington. I know it's almost cliche now but people really wanted change.

How can the same people who say everybody has an equal opportunity to achieve turn around and go into hysterics over a black man - and have nobody confront them directly on their hypocrisy.

21. No. YOU obviously missed the many posts I made. Go to
obsidianwings.com from hillzoy who has been watching him. There's a very long post about this obscure man named Barack Obama who was interested in working on wonky things, working with other people, and who didn't care about attention at the time. It's dated from 2006. I'd find it for you, but you are an ass. Find it yourself.

12. I was never sure of it by any means but I never counted him out
While Hillary had a seemingly insurmountable lead in the pre-primary stages, I knew from past elections that that can all change when Iowa votes. And Iowa has a history of picking the dark horse over the establishment. And I always thought that his idea of putting together a new coalition was rock solid.

19. Me neither.
I supported Hillary (please don't flame me!) initially, but voted for Edwards in the primary, even though he had dropped out. I had just gotten too tired and depressed at the negativity and nastiness during the Democratic primaries.

Having said that, I have been totally in the Obama camp since his nomination, and I see hope for our country and the world when he is elected. I'm thinking positively and hoping we don't have shit happening like in 2000 and 2004.

20. Not Howard Wolfson
If you recall, we spent the last several months of the primary having to listen to arguments that the superdelegates should switch, because it was certain this fella, Obama, could not win in November.

I felt fairly certain from the beginning that he was a unprecedented political talent and that, if he could get the nomination, he could win.

Okay, let's not put a jinx on this.

33. I have supported Obama since 2004.
I left the DU for a while in early 2008 because I got tired of the fighting and being flamed for my support of him. I came back when there were only a few left in the debate and had an ignore list of about 25 for several months in order to maintain my composure. I always knew that Obama was capable of winning it because he is just that good.;)

Now if I can only keep myself together for two more days, then it will be okay.

I am a wussy!!! My stress level got too high and I was having heart palpatations like crazy. I gave in to her orders and took a break. When I came back it was on the sly. She knows I'm here all the time now, because so is she. :7

I was here in 2004 for part of the time, more so on the Clark board and then here. My heart was stronger back then. And yes it was more brutal this year, I think.

Forgive me for leaving you hanging like a Florida chad in 2004.

I'd heard about him and was impressed before that...but his keynote address.

Kerry was the nominee...but it was like being at the altar and suddenly realizing you were in love with the "Best Man."

36. As soon as I saw the New Hampshire "Yes We Can" speech
I knew that this was the candidate I would support. I remember back in February, talking with an African-American classmate, who said that she thought support for Obama, especially among white people, was just a fad. "Just you wait," I told her. We made a $1 bet. I am pretty damn sure I'll win it, but I don't plan on collecting. Having Obama in the White House is more than a prize enough. What a long road it's been - but what a journey!

Okay, yes I am. I feel so down tonight because I have had a lousy day that I need something to feel good about. Forgive my feelings of superciliousness. ;)

Edited to add: okay, I feel guilty now. I was lucky enough to have volunteered for him here in Illinois and to have met him on his trips down here. I had never been politically active until then and I really enjoyed my time being so in 2004. It was my swan song I guess because now I am not healthy enough to be so. I knew he was special the first time I met him and I am just happy that any one here that goes to his rallies has the chance to see him close up also. Go Obama....Go DUers...

46. I didn't until the Repubs picked McCain.
I started supporting Obama in January, but I thought it would be a tough fight to win. But when it became clear McCain would be his opponent, I knew Obama would win. McCain is and always has been thoroughly unlikeable to reasonable people once they get to know him, and is despised by the Republican base for entirely different reasons. He never had a prayer of winning. Which is not to slight Obama. Obama has run a flawless campaign. But I still think the real struggle was against Clinton, not McLame.
