The city's black churches saw some particularly passionate praying Sunday.
For many African-American congregants, a miracle appears to be at hand: not only is America poised to elect a black president, but seems about to do so by a landslide.
"Tuesday is Election Day. It is a day of transformation in our lives," the Rev. Floyd Flake told his flock in Queens.
In Brooklyn, the Rev. Herbert Daughtry kept politics off the pulpit at the House of the Lord Church, but afterwards marveled at the history Barack Obama might make tomorrow.
"In the South, we didn't get into statehouses unless it was through the backdoor with a mop or a broom. Now there's a possibility that a black person might hold the highest position in the land. That's a dreamy possibility," said the 78-year-old preacher.
