Both sides target voter fraud, abuse; army of lawyers on the go...

WASHINGTON

Barack Obama and John McCain deployed armies of lawyers Sunday to ward off Election Day shenanigans and ensure ballots aren't cast by Mickey Mouse, felony convicts or dead people.

More than 5,000 lawyers are fanning out around the country for Team Obama, while the McCain camp will deploy "almost as many" , officials said.

The lawyers are looking for election fraud and voter intimidation, such as excessive police presence in precincts with heavy concentrations of minority-group voters or improper requests for extra identification by poll workers.

Where they find problems, the lawyers will challenge local election officials on the spot.

Lawyers also will staff hotlines in key battleground states and at their national headquarters, encouraging calls from voters who say they were turned away or otherwise intimidated.

"With such a large voter turnout predicted, the goal of our lawyers is to keep people in the lines and keep them voting," said Jenny Backus, a spokeswoman for Obama's legal program.

The McCain campaign was less forthcoming about its legal efforts... http://www.nydailynews.com/news/politics/2008/11/02/2008-11-02_both_sides_target_voter_fraud_abuse_army.html

Bottom line: Obama is taking nothing for granted. He's learned the lesson of the sleazy Rovian tactics, and preemptively refuses to be a victim.

1. reps should keep in mind,
we aren't the same people we were when they screwed us over the last two times. We are wide awake now.

2. The giant is now fully awake and alert...
I'm so very proud of this campaign for its insistence on putting every ball back in the court of the aggressor.

Enough!
