My sister had surgery, is bedridden for now, but wants to vote
She went in Friday and I don't think she had any idea how much it would take out of her.(It was successful. she's going to fine, just recovering-don't worry). She can't walk yet, so driving her there is not an option.
If she had any idea, she could have requested an absentee or took part in early voting, but I don't know if it's too late now.
I talked to her today and she's pretty bummed out and mad at herself that she can't vote Obama.
I'm making some calls tomorrow to see what I can do.
Does anyone know a possible solution? Is an absentee even possible with one day's notice? I'm willing and able to go pick one up.

We live in Maine, and one year (2002) we voted absentee *on election day*, with less than an hour before polls closed, thanks to an awesome GOTV volunteer.

4. Drive her to her precinct; they will come to her in the car and help her vote.
There is a provision in most states (if not all) that allow this... she is disabled and in need of assistance. Call your local elections office for details, or as the poster above suggests, call the Obama campaign, local democratic HQ, etc.

8. It is part of HAVA (Help America Vote Act)
If she cannot get inside they HAVE to bring it out to her. If not, is it a violation of federal voting laws.

Drive her...and waslk in and find the precinct judge. If you get shit, call 1-866-our-vote (1-866-687-8683) and get them to help you.

9. At the very least:
See if you can find a wheelchair and roll her to the car. Even lay her in the backseat if it wouldn't take too much out of her.

Then, just drive her there and get an election official to perform a curbside vote. She won't even have to get out of the car.
