How I intend to beat laws forbidding the wearing of political propaganda @ the polls! |
|
In Va. we are not allowed to wear political gear at the polling places..... So I intend to dress in ALL BLUE..... I have a friend (a relatively non-foaming@muth republican friend) who will wear all red.

1. I'll be wearing an Obama shirt... under my hoodie. |
|
Granted I live in NY, so I don't think there are any restrictions about clothing any way.

2. Haven't heard anything re those types of rules anywhere but Va. |
|
Probably safe in NY..... But better safe than sorry. They'll be looking for ANY reason to NOT let people vote on tomorrow.

And I like it-the polls ought to be electioneering free zones just like the church should be politics free.

Thank god too - there'd be fist-fights in the lines if you could.

8. New York has a No Electioneering law within 100 Ft. of the polls. |
|
That means buttons, shirts (with visible endorsements)are prohibited.
(I'm a poll worker and I have to park my bumper-sticker'd car more than 100 ft from the door)
Each sides keep the other inline on these rules.

6. I voted early and they had a sign at the building saying |
|
voters could not wear political campaign material.
I had a turtleneck shirt on with this very pretty Democratic donkey in red gold and blue. I wore it on my collar and no one said a damn thing to me.
By the way, my Obama yard sign was finally stolen. We filed a police complaint and I hope to get another one up today.

10. In Maine you can wear a button or something else nonconspicuous to vote. |
|
If you hang around after finishing voting, however, officials are to ask you to remove the button.
