2. Democrats just aren't ruthless enough to kick his ass out

I just heard Kerry on MTP, saying he would welcome him back.

8. Kerry actually said he wanted Lieberman to be a Democrat.
That leaves room for interpretation if you think about it. I believe he wants to wait until at least November 5 to take a position on this.

16. Senators seem more concerned with their colleague friends than the people
There seems to be a disturbing pattern of taking care of our own, when it comes to malfeasance and unethical behavior amongst Senators and congressmen. Case in point Democratic Senator Inouye wanting convicted Alaska Senator Stevens to stay in the Senate. If these elected officials are more concerned about who they work with, rather than who they work for, it is time they changed jobs. A quality Democratic state like Massachusetts could do better than Senator Kerry.

3. I hope he loses his chairmanship
but keep him in the caucus. Fuck him. Use his vote when we can.

6. Depends on the numbers, numbers are everything in the Senate.
Take his chairmanship away and allow him to caucus with us if necessary. He votes with the Dems on the vast majority of issues.

11. I agree with you but Lieberman won't go for it.
He loves publicity. If we appropriately strip him of all seniority and all committee assignments but allow him to caucus with us, he will take the GOP deal that has surely been worked out already.

12. Yes, he could be vote #60 to get things passed.
Unless the Democrats are willing to deal with filibusters, and drop the 60 vote rule, Lieberman still could have impact.

9. Just demote him to make him the chair of the most mundane, meaningless subcommittee
Drive him to edge, but make him take the final leap all on his own.

13. The best way to treat Lieberman is to ignore he has any impact at all
beyond that of any independent junior senator

14. If the dems get exactly 60 (with traitor joe) than no
if they get something in the mid 50s, than bye bye traitor joe, it hasn't been nice knowing you.

24. Right, that's the smart move.
It's looking like we'll probably be getting a total of about 58 Senators, including the 2 independents. In that case Traitorman gets nothing. Not even one committee assignment, let along chairmanship. And his newly assigned office? Janitor closet at best.

But we are riding a wave that could very well carry us to the 60 seats we need in the Senate. In that case we should bite the bullet and let him keep his perks. For now. The Senate will reorganize in another 2 years.

18. The Democrats should have kicked Lieberman's butt out long ago.
He is a disgrace to the Democratic Party and a traitor to the people who voted for him. He is not representing their best interests.

I understand the reasons why the Dems in charge have tolerated his unacceptable behavior the past few years, though. And right after the elections, when margins in both houses tip toward the Dems, I say the first business of the first day should be to strip Lieberman of everything, and send him packing! And I think the Dems should make no bones about it: his activities, endorsements, and behavior have been unacceptable, and are not in keeping with Democratic traditions of putting people first.

Not just RICH people, but EVERYONE.

21. I am ready to throw him out of my state! He gives CT a bad name.
And I am tired of it. We are a lovely state, really. Very blue, very decent nice friendly New England folks live here. We have beautiful towns and there is nothing like fall in New England with the leaves changing color and visiting the apple orchards or going to get pumpkins. But Loserman is ruining the name of our good state. My Republican parents voted for him but I voted for Lamont. Repubs gave Loserman the victory here. I hope a really, really good Dem challenges him in 2012.

22. screw him
When we supported him (wholeheartedly) he knew he had to win the dem primary in order for it to continue. as a party we don't cross party lines. We support dem candidates. PERIOD! He made his choice. he has been a liability since he ran with Gore. I would through him under the bus and you couldnt pay me enough to keep from metaphorically running him down over and over again! His vote hurts us

23. This is why we need 61 tomorrow, not 60. If we just get to 60, we will keep
him to have the super majority. If we get 61, we can kick him to the curb.

he will be stripped of his Homeland Security chairmanship, but that he can stay in the caucus?
