Had a handful of firecrackers thrown at our front door last night..... |

one of those "black cat" type of packets about 5:45. It was just starting to get dark, and we heard this sound like firecrackers going off really close to our house.....our dog hates the fourth of July with all the fireworks around the neighborhood, and she about had a stroke with them being so close. Anyway, our neighbor came over and said he knew who threw them, and that we should call the police. He said don't bother calling the parents, as they're not going to do anything about it, so we did called the police. When the officer came, my husband told the policeman what had happened and the officer said he'd look into it. Don't know if it was political or not, as our neighborhood is red and we do have our Obama/Biden and Al Franken signs out. Just scared the heck out of us. :scared:

1. Probably just a couple of bratty kids |
|
I wouldn't worry about it. That kind of thing happens around here all the time.

2. Don't expect the cops to do anything about it whether you're in a red or blue neighborhood |

At least that's my experience. Unless it's something really major, the cops will just give you a token response, and apparently that's what they did with you when the officer said "he'd look into it." I just don't think they have the time to follow up on calls like this.
Last year 3 of us in our neighborhood had someone drive across our front lawns, leaving deep ruts all over the place and knocking over mailboxes on the way out. In my yard the car sideswiped one of our trees, leaving his sideview mirror and bits of his red car embedded in the crotch of the tree. When the cops came over to "investigate", it was me who found the evidence inside the tree. The cop said it was a small red car when he looked at the sideview mirror and that he'd "look into it" and would let me know what they found out. Of course we never heard another peep about it. I should have just done my own detective work, checked the small repair shops, and found out who did it myself.
I just don't think the cops have time to follow up on minor calls like this.
