I only started voting back in 2006, but I think every candidate I have ever voted for has lost :(
Even though my state probably won't go for Obama, this at least looks to be the first election where I vote for some winners! I'll obviously be voting for Obama, and I think the House of Representatives race in my area is close as well, and it's possible the Republican incumbent will be voted out.

It will be a sad moment when they call SC for McCain. But I'll get over it when NC and Georgia are called for Obama. :) (I can dream about Georgia can't I!?)

Kentucky will be called first. And they might even wait to have a projection in SC. They didn't call SC for a while in 2004.

Well, there's some hope! We have quite a large African American population, so maybe that will at least keep it in play for a bit longer. But I went to check the election maps, and it looks like only SC and WV (and some list GA) as Republican-leaning, so I figured it would be between SC and WV, but WV I thought was closer than expected, too, so that just left my home state of SC :(

14. I think SC will be closer |
|
The polls might be underestimating African American turnout and SC is much closer than it has been in the past.

8. Yes, our state will likely be so. |

When the Charleston Sunday paper gave its (ho hum) McCain endorsement yesterday it could have been written by an editorial board of Hannity, Savage and Limbaugh. With all due respect for the drink-makers, our new motto should be "Kool-aid capital of America!"

But if they call VA first it won't matter.

but I certainly hope that you feel good about your vote, and take consolation knowing that it's not going to be the margin McCain thought it would be.
And tip your hat to the low country for me!

KY polls close asynchronously, with some polls closing at 6 EST and the rest at 6 CST (7 EST). Although the polls do not close in the entire states until the same time as polls close in SC, they usually project KY at 6 EST, an hour earlier.
