It's important to note for a couple of reasons.. for Obama to have jumped a percentage point in one day on this tracking poll means he had a great day yesterday, upwards of 53% for that day. It also shows that Obama has been viable in the 51-53 range for a long time in this tracking poll, which is where he needs to be for Tuesday. It also shows he's tracked between 6-7 point spread in the national polls. Given the strength of his electoral votes (see graph below), we are in very good position for Election Day. Note in the electoral vote graph below, McCain is at his tracking at lowest strength of this election cycle.
The graph above shows the electoral votes again but omits the "barely" states. The electoral votes of a state only count in this graph if the candidate has a margin of 5% or more over his opponent.
