Ok, imagine that it's Jan. 2001, and you're watching George W. Bush taking the Presidential oath... |
|
...and you're pissed off about the stolen election, and worried too. In fact, you're having borderline-irrational fears about the future of the country. Premonitions of doom are all over the place.
And then suddenly, this mysterious old man comes up to you and says: "You're right to worry. These next few years will be very hard for the country in general and Democrats in particular--thousands will die, hundreds of thousands will lose their homes, and millions at home and abroad will stop believing in America. BUT, at the end of this era of darkness, your party will score a MASSIVE comeback and unite the country--all thanks to the exceptional person who will be elected president in 2008."
"Who is it," you ask excitedly, "Bill Bradley? Dick Gephardt? Warren Beatty? I've got it, it's Hillary Clinton, right?"
"Actually," says the old man, "It'll be a half-Kenyan Hawaiian named Barack Hussein Obama, but you've never heard of him because he'll be in the Illinois State Senate for another 4 years."
At which point, your reaction would be.....?

1. "Aww shit, we're screwn" |

No way I would've believed that in 2001. No friggin' way.

5. First of all, I didn't watch Boosh take the oath. |
|
Just couldn't do it.
My reaction to the rest would have been... "well who knows and why not? I wouldn't have thought this moran would have been able to steal this election either."

6. My memory of that day... |
|
Mrs. Av8rdave and I did watch the pResident take the oath. I expressed my fears of what harm he would do. Mrs. av8rdave felt I was just being a "sore loser," and seemed quite happy with the situation.
The only upside to the last 8 years (which I would trade away in a heartbeat) is that I am vindicated. Even Mrs. av8rdave had to admit that I was right!
The long national nightmare is almost over. 78 days to go!
