I just had a crazy thought about Biden and his so-called "gaffes"
What if they were all (or at least most of them) INTENTIONAL rather than accidental so as to "bait" McCain/Palin?

Stick with me for a second...............

For instance, during the VP debate, did he intentionally flub Palin's "Drill, baby, drill!!!" so that she would be tempted to correct him by saying it out loud for everybody to hear (just how stupid it is)?

During the VP debate, did he intentionally refuse to name that Afghanistan commander (re: "the Surge") so that Palin would continue giving the wrong name (the Civil War general)?

Did he "gaffe" about taxes so as to spark a discussion about how corporations are essentially getting away with not paying their fair share (a totally legitimate point BTW)?

Did he "gaffe" about Obama being "tested" to spark a discussion about McCain/Palin's ability to lead in a crisis and/or remind the public about McCain's disastrous campaign suspension debacle?

Also, consider, how exactly (if at all) have Biden's "gaffes" really HURT Obama?

Or am I just being crazy and maybe he really is the "gaffe machine" that everybody makes him out to be? Oh I'm sure that I could probably think of one or two comments by Obama OR Biden that might be considered a "gaffe".

However, I wonder why, given how disciplined the Obama campaign has been, they would INTENTIONALLY choose somebody for the VP slot who is a known "gaffe machine". Biden seems like he's really smart and has been in politics so long. It's hard for me to believe that he would've made some of the above comments if he didn't have a good reason to. Where did he get this "gaffe machine" reputation anyway?

1. Sorry, but not likely...

2. Well, I might agree with you about the drill baby drill one.
It was a good move - he gave the (correct) impression that it was such a meaningless and stupid catchphrase that it wasn't worth remembering properly.
