The Thing About All Those Long Early Vote Lines Pre-11/4...
is that many cities have only ONE place to vote early. For example, if you want to vote early (non-absentee) in LA, there is only one place to do so for the entire city. That's the reason the lines are so long.

Tomorrow, people will be voting at their local precincts. Even with a heavy turnout the lines and the wait shouldn't be as long.

2. I was surprised about that
Isn't San Diego one of the places that only has one early voting location? Odd for such a populous place.

We have about 5 early voting places open here in each county during early voting. Not as many as precincts obviously, but you do have your pick of where to go.

3. In Ohio, it's one voting place per COUNTY, not city.

4. It's the same here in Arkansas with a few exceptions. A few of our counties
have more than one county seat and voting is done at each County Courthouse.

7. There's no consistency, even within a state.
I could have voted early at the city hall in my CA town in OC, but the last day to do so was last Thursday. On the other hand, one can still early vote in LA today, and they were open in LA yesterday as well.

Also, if you are in line by 8pm tomorrow, they must allow you to vote, but the line will be cut off at 8pm. Get there at 8:00:01 and you might be shit out of luck in CA.

8. Fortunately there's like 200 counties.
Nobody needs to travel much longer than 15-20 miles max.

10. My precinct is at a middle school 1/2 mile from my home.

I plan on being there at 7am tomorrow with my kids. We'll vote, then, I drop them at school around 8am. If there are long lines at 7am, I'll blow off voting then and plan on leaving work around 3pm to vote before 4pm. The kids can vote with mom when she picks them up after school.

I feel it's very important for my kids to participate, and CA Election statute 14222 allows kids under 18 to enter the voting booth if accompanied by a parent.

5. I would have early voted if I could, but I'm in DE.
No early voting. Also, if you fill out an absentee ballot, you can't just walk it up to the desk. It must be sent thru the mail.

6. Looks like NC is the state that everyone should look to
in regards to how to run an election.

Early voting for 2 weeks and one stop registration at the early vote, Wake County (Raleigh) had about 15 early vote sites, and it looks like it will be about 56% of the population will have voted early.

We also used 'optical scan' ballots as well.

9. Sounds a lot like WI.
A person can visit their city clerk, register, fill out and file the optical scan ballot in one easy visit.
