4. This poll is likely bullshit |
|
But if Obama clears 40% in Alaska, that would be the highest total any Democrat for president has receieved in Alaska in 40 years.

6. Maybe bullshit, maybe not. |

The letters to the editor, support at rallies, etc. have been markedly in Obama's favor here, at least in Anchorage. I believe this election will hinge on how the people in the Bush and the smaller towns vote. From what I've seen, I think Obama takes Anchorage.

I don't know what to believe, though. I saw poll results yesterday that said McCain had an 18 point lead, Ivan Moore showed him with an 11 point lead a week or so ago. I never believed that McCain led by as much as 18, but Ivan's seemed more in the ballpark.
Maybe people are really waking up here, which would be fabulous. It's going to be a fun night watching election results. :)

11. Remember, before Palin, the Obama campaign thought Alaska was in play. |
|
So, it wouldn't surprise me too much if this race is close. Obama actually considered campaigning in Alaska before the Palin pick dashed those plans.

One thing in these polls that I don't question at all is the decline in Sarah's favorability ratings. We've been appalled, to put it mildly, at the way she has conducted herself down there -- so unlike the person that we thought was our governor -- and people are not taking kindly to her duplicity. Our anti-Palin and pro-Obama rallies have been so well attended and have been favorably received by the passing motorists. I think if Obama had been able to make it up here for a rally, it might have pushed him over the top.
No guarantees, of course, but it's not a lonely position here being an Obama supporter. The McCain supporters in the "letters" section of the newspaper are increasingly sounding desperate and "wing-nutty."

9. I hope Obama wins Alaska, and Ted Stevens wins, too. |
|
I don't want Ted Stevens' public humiliation to end just yet.
I want to watch Harry Reid hold hearings to have him removed.

14. I want Stevens to lose big |
|
Because Stevens will no doubt step down and leave the seat open for Palin to step into it. No open senate seat means no national stage for Sarah Palin.

10. Pretty high MOE, and only 400 people interviewed. BUT . . . |
|
the interesting tidbit is that there are 5% undecideds in that poll. Now, if you're an Alaskan and you're undecided or refuse to answer, that can only mean one thing - you're turned off by the McCain/Palin ticket, but you don't want to admit it. We can call it a Palin Effect.
Will Obama win Alaska? I doubt it, but, I wouldn't rule it out completely. I think Alaskans are increasingly fed up and disgusted with Palin. I mean, the Alaska newspaper even endorsed Obama. So, we'll see. That would just be icing on the cake.
