Why is McLoser campaigning in *Tennessee*?!
I haven't even seen anything here that suggests that TN might be in play!

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20081103/ap_on_el_pr/campaign_rdp

McCain's journey stretched from Tampa through Tennessee, whose media market reaches into the much-coveted state of Virginia, which is trending Democratic for the first time since 1964.

Just barely. Only the far southwest corner of VA, where Bristol, VA and Bristol, TN are separated by State Street, would be covered. So why not campaign in VA, even if it is a "communist country"? :sarcasm:

5. The TN airport is the closest accessible airport to southwest VA, that's why.
That is how remote and isolated the southwest VA region is. People flying out from that area of VA have to drive a fairly long distance to get to the nearest regional airport in Tennessee.

6. Well, if he went to Tenn to affect VA
then why wouldn't he go directly to VA instead? Doesn't make any sense unless this is some sort of a nostolgic trip down memory lane, but as far as I know McCain has no connection whatsoever with Tenn

10. He thought he was in Virginia
Seriously, the guy on CNN said McCain mentioned being in Virginia several times during the appearance in Tennessee. In fairness, the town in Tennessee is right on the border, and I guess it's the media market for that part of rural Virginia. Or, as the rally was at the airport, perhaps that's the only local airport.

11. I grew up about 5 miles from the airport I'm sure he held his rally at.
I saw Reagan there, as well as Carter during their campaigns. The airport is very close the VA line, and he was trying to draw voters from Southwest Virginia. The Tri-cities airport services that whole region of the country. It is actually closer for those folk than travelling to Roanoke. Believe me, McCain will win upper East Tennessee big time. But, he will fight for his life among the coal miners in Southwest Virginia this year. The union is strong there, and with this economy, economics will trump religion.
