I'm glad he'll be safe but it sucks that Obama will be speaking behind bullet proof glass tomorrow |
|
night. Just heard on ABC Radio news. Hey whatever it takes and maybe its because he it might be his first address as president elect. This is a bummer, a very minor one because his safety is very important, but it sucks that this is the type of world we live in.

I want President Obama to live to a long, healthy and happy old age. I will welcome whatever it takes to ensure that he does.
Because while he may have to speak from behind glass, as our first African American President, his longevity and success will ensure that the next African American President stands a chance of never having to do the same thing.
Keep our future President safe, now and for the rest of his life.

Obama has been so accessible, compared to Bush/Cheney and there needs to be as much protection as possible. I'm really not sad about it, except for what it says about the US.

|
The skinheads from Denver would never ahve been able to get him in Mile High Stadium because there is no vantage point where they could lie in wait with the sniper rifle.
In Chicago along Miochigan avenue, there are litereally thousands of potential locations for idiots with sniper rifles.

36. There are a series of circus size tents. I'd try to take a pic, but my cell ran down. |
|
Not sure if everyone in every tent will be able to see him at the same time, or if he will be wandering from tent to tent, or just TVs of the stage. I suspect there will be a lot of mingling. Otherwise, why not just have it next door at Soldier Field?
The weather is abnormally warm, in the 70s during the day today and tomorrow. So nature is cooperating.

Grant Park has the lake on one side, tremendously porous access on the ground, and surrounded on all other sides by immense skyscrapers, some as high as 70 stories or more, with a ton of windows facing the park. I think logistically, its a three dimensional nightmare as far as security.

But I know what you mean. After JFK was assassinated there was that feeling of "too bad" that our presidents now had to be less accessible---no more riding in open cars, waving at people.

I live in Chicago and was wondering how they would hold a rally in Grant Park with all the tall buildings on Michigan Avenue. It will definitely suck to have him behind glass but I would rather he be SAFE and make it to the White House in one piece.

26. Does not suck even a little. The threats he has received and the precautions he's made |
|
have been the toast of this election season.
The last thing we need is for someone to work on my naivete in thinking he means as much to everyone else as he does for me.
I will go to the language I heard from V: what we need is a symbol. We will demand the rest.
The one thing Republicans did for us is to take away our hope that things could be BETTER. Better hope behind a glass (like any store in a high crime community if you want any goods or services), than hope that has been canned and planted.
