Nostradamus Writings Predict McCain Victory
CAP NEWS - "Conventional wisdom picks Obama. Nostradamus, four and a half centuries ago, picked John McCain," said Dr. Hubert Evans, professor of Renaissance Studies at Yale University and author of the best-selling "Nostradamus: Prophesize This!"

"Quatrain 78, Century X in particular seems to indicate that Obama had better not be measuring the White House windows for curtains quite yet, at least by my interpretation," said Dr. Evans.

The quatrain to which Dr. Evans refers - Quatrain 78 - is located in the grouping of stanzas known as Century X. Originally published in 1555 in Nostradamus' still-popular Les Prophecies, Quatrain 78 reads in full:

At the war's end:
The Feeble Kept One will strike down the Night
And his Imbecile Queen will rise from the snow
Bedecked in finery and the pelt of a wolf.

8. Seriously, Nostradamus did predict unrest in the middle east.
I read a book about him that talks about his predictions about the 2000's. Many of his predictions were about about instability in that region. Kind of creepy.

10. Oh yeah, trouble in the Middle East is SO hard to predict;
didn't he also make a prediction about bears defecating in wooded areas?

13. LOL! Probably. Hey, I am just reporting what the book said.
Nostradamus is very interesting to me as he was born, like I was, on the Sagittarius/Capricorn cusp for anyone interested in astrology. I want to know if I have some hidden power to predict the future. Then I would know for sure who would win the election and my stomach would not be in knots.

"Whenever current events cough up a notable historic chapter, like on 9-11, the Nostradamus nuts are right there, twisting text to make the prediction meet the event," said renowned skeptic and paranormal debunker Chip Manheim. "Just in terms of comparison, take a look at the next quatrain from Century X, Quatrain 79. This, incidentally, was the last quatrain that Nostradamus ever wrote:

"In five moons, the Feeble Kept-One is no more
And his Imbecile Queen sees the Great Bear
From her backyard, alrighty, and flings giant poison arrows
And the Great Bear responds in kind, and, well, The End.

"What the fuck does that even mean?" an exasperated Manheim asked.

16. You forgot
Nostradamus' last words, found in a hermetically sealed mayonnaise jar:

"In five moons, the Feeble Kept-One, with bejeweled wife.
along with his Imbecile Queen, impostor journeyman,
are never to see importance or fame.
Yoooobetcha!

12. The only Nostradamus predition that has impressed me
Edited on Mon Nov-03-08 04:35 PM by aint_no_life_nowhere
was the one that is supposedly about Napoleon. It went something like this:

"The captive prince, conquered, to Elba,/He will pass the Gulf of Genoa by sea to Marseilles,/He is completely conquered by a great effort of foreign forces,/Though he escapes the fire, the bees yield liquor by the barrel."

Napoleon was conquered and exiled to Elba from which he escaped and returned to southern France by sea and was then defeated after 100 days by a coalition of four foreign armies at Waterloo. The reference to the bees is eerie. Napoleon's symbol was imperial bees and his flag on his return from Elba had the image of three bumblebees bees on it. "The captive prince" could either apply to Napoleon himself or his young son Napoleon II called the "Prince of Parma", who was taken captive by the Austrians in 1814 at the same time when Napoleon was exiled to Elba, in order to prevent him from having a successor.

14. This one sounds more like a nod to Obama instead:
I have included notes on possible meanings:

Quatrain 81 - is located in the grouping of stanzas known as Century X. Originally published in 1555 in Nostradamus' still-popular Les Prophecies, Quatrain 78 reads in full:

In the years after the meso period by 608 (1)
The old grey one will approach riding a light haired horse with fixed smile (2)
With arms too short to reach the reins
He will be joined by an empty, shrill wind from the North (3)
Who will drown out his fallible words with sounds of nonsense

As the night nears after the end the tenth month (4)
He will be struck down by a younger who
Moves in dark into the house of light (5)
Sending him and his horse to the land of the sun (6)

notes:
(1) 2008 AD
(2) Clearly Cindy
(3) Reference to Palin?
(4) November
(5) Obama
(6) McCain back to Arizona

18. Nostradamus doesn't predict jackshit. All successful "predictions" have been deduced after the fact
Napoleon, Hitler, etc. In other words, no "prediction" at all.

Just as with the supposed biblical prophesies that have come true - it is all after the fact stuff.

21. Lucky for us that most of Nostradamus's predictions are actually made up by living people
Very few of the predictions attributed to Nostradamus were written by Nostradamus.
