Do you have friends or relative in CA?
Edited on Mon Nov-03-08 04:11 PM by FreeState
Do you have friends or relative in CA? If so could you please do all of us a huge favor and take 5 minutes to email them or better yet call them and plead with them to vote No On Prop 8?

The polls are extremely close. A Survey USA poll out today has the No side winning by 3%. The internals for the No side have it at 2% (or at least they did last night when I was volunteering).

If you know voters in San Diego PLEASE call them - this area has the highest rate of undecided on Prop 8 - your phone calls and emails could garentee that many of us maintain our basic rights.

Please call or email your friends in CA today.

Prop 8 would eliminate rights. It's unfair and wrong.

please K&R this for equality - every vote is important

---

Edit to add a very easy link to send an email out - its pre-formatted and easy to use - it only takes a couple seconds - please email your friends and family - even if you know they are voting No already here:

Here in San Diego we had a rally the other night - 7K people walking the streets with candles - it was one of the most touching and energizing things I have seen in my life. There is hope:)

26. I thought you'd like my daughter's response
to my e-mail urging her to vote no.

Uh ... yeah mom, thanks! I know for a fact that Obama will win California, but I checked and re-checked (and re-checked) my California registration so I could vote no on 8. There is very little that I find more disturbing than a proposition to amend the Constitution to take away rights rather than to give them. The ads the yes on 8 people have running down here are really pretty messed up. Can't wait for tomorrow!

(She's a lawyer, by the way -- thus her reverence for the Constitution. God, I love that girl. :) )

It is silly and shameful that we have to worry about this one.

I would help, but for the life of me I can't think of ONE person I would want to talk to that is voting yes on this crap.

13. On the positive side, the CA polls have been improving on this issue for over 10 years...

I think we've reached the tipping point, and I think the Obama turnout is going to help defeat this bill.

I'm in Northern CA. Most, but not all of the people I know are going to flush this turd. It's probably the central valley and some parts of Southern CA (like Orange County) that are making this as close as it is.

While the bill itself is heinous, having it on the ballot might be a good thing. California seems to have an influence on the rest of the country with these progressive issues. It wasn't that long ago people in New York were laughing and calling us loons for our laws about smoking in public buildings.

20. I understand it but I want to defeat it outright
once these people understand that they can't win on this issue they are going to realize that they are way out of touch with the average person.

Ironically if we are going to defeat it, it will be because of the Republicans who voted "no".

I was discourged to see that a number of Democrats were voting for it when I canvassed.

11. I discussed Prop 8 with a very conservative friend of mine.
Even though she's a bit of an ass, even she is voting No on this. She lives in a conservative section of Los Angeles county and is socially quite enlightened, which is the only reason we've remained friends. (She worked in the defense industry, thus her history of voting republican).

I can also tell you that I have five friends in Northern California that are definitely voting no on this proposition.

white shirt, dark pants, tennis shoes, & carried a black book with a duc tape cross on it). He walked around the gas lamp district in San Diego preaching "Vote no on Prop. 8" He was with a group of his friends. His costume was a hit.

I've got my "Vote no on 8" signs in my yard, and I believe there are 7 "no" votes from my family.

53. I don't personally know anyone who's voting yes fortunately.
I did yell at some yes on 8 people that were out on a corner near my house today. I was stopped at the red light and just couldn't let the moment pass me by. I felt compelled to do this even though I don't normally like to draw attention to myself.

First I yelled "No on 8!" probably five times.
Then I yelled "Booooooooooooo"

Then the light turned green. I yelled "You suck" a couple of times as loud as I could. They finally looked my direction somewhat. I still wish I would've yelled bigot too but I thought of it too late. I know this may not really help, but boy was it cathartic. Those idiots were standing out in the rain to do this. A teen-age girl across the street picked up a No sign staked near her and was waving it in opposition. They (teen-agers) know what's up.

I sure hope good prevails.

56. Prop 8
I live in the Bay area and I will admit that I work for a federal agency that employs a lot of black people. I talk to my coworkers and they are ecstatic about this election (voting for O). Many of my coworkers are Church going people and they are afraid that a vote of No on Prop 8 will result in their church being forced to marry gay people. I predict that a lot of them will vote yes.

Me, I am going to vote no on all the props.
