2. Now she belongs to the ages...
I think that was said about Lincoln...

But it applies to her too...

And now she's grandmother to ALL of us....

Safe passage to her...

My deepest condolences to Obama and everyone who loved her...

4. For me it is because she gave so much so

that Barack Obama could be here for us. He is who he is partly because of her dedication to and love for this amazing man.

Thank You Madeline Dunham! Thank you from the bottom of my heart! Your grandson's Presidency will be your greatest memorial.

10. It is terribly sad, but I'm comforted by Obama having had the opportunity
to say goodbye to her. That's a really, really important thing. And it offers a great deal of comfort.

11. *big hug*
My grandmother died the day after my birthday.
I remember my mom crying, hoping her mother wouldn't die on her daughter's birthday.

I can understand a little of what the Obama family must be feeling on a day like this. God be with them.

12. It hit me hard too, Frenchie.
Omg - they were showing Biden on the stump and broke in with the news - and I just burst out crying.

I just wish I could be there to comfort Obama.

13. It's bringing back memories of my grandmother's for some reason...
so I'm extra upset by it...beyond the normal sympathy for him and my desire for that good Kansas woman to see her grandson elected.

14. Mine died three years ago.
It was the worst experience of my life. I feel so bad for him right now. There is nothing worse that losing a loved one.

16. FrenchieCat, I feel the same way and had the same thought

I have the same feeling I had when my Gram died. I can't stop crying either. And to think of what Barack Obama has
gone through in the last two years, the stress, the pressure, the hours... this has to be extra hard. I'm sure he needs
a good cry, but he still has to wear a brave face. It's just so sad.
