Amandla Awethu!
That's my first response to the first Repuke/Freeper/Neo-con who crosses my path after Barack wins.

Amandla Awethu!

That'll scare the hell out of them.

5. Sing Our Own Song
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=htZ4uk-dumQ

The great flood of tears that we`ve cried
For our brothers and sisters who`ve died
Over four hundred years
Has washed away our fears
And strengthened our pride
Now we turn back the tide

We will no longer hear your command
We will sieze the control from your hand
We will fan the flame
Of our anger and pain
And you`ll feel the shame
For what you do in gods name

(chorus)

We will fight for the right to be free
We will build our own society
And we will sing, we will sing
We will sing our own song

When the ancient drum rythms ring
The voice of our forefathers sings
Forward africa run
Our day of freedom has come
For me and for you
Amandla awethu

(chorus)

We will fight for the right to be free
We will build our own society
And we will sing, we will sing
We will sing our own song

6. I don't think any revolution ever had a better soundtrack
than the anti-apartheid movement. Black South African music goes right to your soul.

One of the best concerts I ever saw was the Soweto Gospel Choir, about 25 young singers, all soloist quality, all of whom sang solos at some point during the concert.

Amandla awethu indeed!

11. They were at the Ted Mann Concert Hall on the West Bank of the U of M
Part of a series of world choral groups.

By the way, if you're still in Minnesota, check out the MN Forum for news of an evening gathering.

12. Ex South African here
Grew up in Johannesburg during apartheud. I can't wait to see the first Black American President. Not that matters, but I'm white. The Repug campaign brought back some really BAD memories

African music is my favorite - Jabu Khanyile (saw him in 1997 at the Grahamstown Festival), Lucky Dube, Ladysmith Black Mambazo, Yvonne Chaka Chaka, etc. Here is a neat music station from Zimbabwe:

(edited to add: have seen many similarities between the right-wing mind here and the right-wing mind in SA)

I've been shocked at the similarities of what gop did this campaign and what they apartheid regimes did.
