A kick for all of our grandmothers who fought so that we could be at this historic moment.

2. I don't know. He may well be at peace with her death.
When my dad died, that's pretty much where I was at. My dad had been dying for a while and I did much of my grieving before he actually died.

14. Me, as well.
My mother passed earlier this year, and it was quite obvious that her time was short. There was still grief when she passed, but the harder part was watching her suffer.

21. I'm so glad he got to see her.
He may be at peace, I completely understand this sentiment. My thought is primarily that this election is and always has been in our hands. He is a strong man, he may very well continue to campaign tonight.. in fact I hope he does. My sentiment is simply that we must be the wind in his sails during this moment.

27. I took care of my grandmother when I was 6 and 7 years old
I would sit on her bed and read my little school books to her. She never seemed to get tired of hearing me read and always was so happy and praise me.

I would answer the door and bring her snacks from the kitchen.

I always answered the phone and would quiz anyone that wanted to talk to her -- I would write down their names and never disturb her when she was sleeping.

She died of Cancer when I was 7.

I found an old photograph about 4 years ago. It was a photograph of my grandmother, grandfather, my Mom and me.

All of us were looking so sad. When I turned the picture over I read the date and realized that was during the year that she was sick.

Care Givers have a special place in my heart and I know that I was Special to my Grandma.

 Prayers for the Obama family.

40. I agree
When you see someone suffering (esp. with evil cancer) at the end, you just want them to be at peace. That's how it was with my Gramps, my father-in-law and my poor neighbor who recently lost her battle to breast cancer.

I think Barack is sad, but he is at peace because Toot is no longer suffering. She knew he would win, and she could go. Amazing.

He did the absolute right thing by taking a couple of days off to see her knowing that this outcome was inevitable. My heart breaks for him, but I know he is strong. Not only that, we all know how strong our future First Lady is being for him.

I believe that is what jessica yellin just said that. She doesn't know if he will address his grandmother's death at the next stop.

At the end she didn't even know who she was let alone me when I would say a her bedside. I literary prayed to God to make this or that breath her last. Its over 25 years now and I still miss her.

all the right things. He knew this was coming and was probably about as prepared as anyone can be for the death of a loved one. He'll be strong and carry on because that is what she taught him to do.

And we will carry him forward. We will carry him all the way over the winning line.

We will do it for Toot and for every grandmother out there who pours her heart and soul into her grandchildren.

Toot is still going to watch over Obama. Yes she can! O8)

(Just looked at the time so it was yesterday.)

My husband called, crying, to tell us about Toot. We all stopped and cried together!

I am so glad to learn that she voted absentee.

And here's to all the gma's (especially the ones I see raising their grandchildren)
