30. I would believe 8pm PST, but not EST.
Why would the media predict the outcome of an election when most of the votes won't be counted until 3 hours later?

someone said he knows its not going to be close. I don't know, I'm not watching Hardball, I'm watching Oprah right now, so I'm not sure what exactly he said lol.

31. You get to vote NO on Prop 8
and possibly set a precedent for the rest of the nation... As California goes, so goes the rest of the US. That's pretty damn important in my opinion.

How was that for love?

Amazing after hundreds of years of running elections in this country we still have a flawed system.

26. Not so much, the people staying home and not voting are more likely to be Republicans
the networks called it early for Reagan on election night in 1980, and the Republicans did better out West in downticket races due to depressed Democratic turnout. People who know their side has LOST are more likely to think 'fuck it, there's no point in voting'; people who know their side has won/will win are more likely to want to be part of the victory. People are funny that way.

12. States to watch:
Indiana- if it's too close to call when the polls close at 8 it's a good sign

Virginia- if called early for Obama another good sign

Pennsylvania- ditto

North Carolina- if it goes for O, McCain is in big trouble

Florida- ditto

Ohio- ditto

37. I think he is wrong. Obama needs to win some western states in order to win.
Chuck is overstating the case. Plus, they never call elections like that anymore because the nets HAVE to wait until everyone has voted, or at least until ALL polls have closed.

He Is not the final expert. But,also consider today he may giving In to the NBC brass who need a close
election. He said to a newspaper he predicts 340 Electoral Votes for Obama. At one Point he called
Ohio safe for Mccain, and he has continued to help spread the Mccain could win PA BS.

I expect a different Tweety tomorrow.Remember he may be running for the senate in 2010 as a
Democrat.

42. Help me out here...
Either by convention or by law - elections are not called until all the mainland polls close (8 PST). We will all have some pretty good evidence after the eastern battleground states close their polls but an official call is usually put off to help western states get out their vote. I think its been that way since Reagan's first election.

Anybody?
