the context of his overplayed sermon and state that he's reasonably sure Barack really never did hear him speak like that?

I thought he should have done that back when this appeared to be a big issue, but when it died down, I ignored it. Now that the Pubs are hammering it constantly, I have to ask, "If Rev. Wright really WAS not only Obama's pastor, but his close friend, why has he remained silent?"
