I want to salute those DUers who stood up with Barack from the start.
In 24 hours, our dream will become reality. The improbable journey to the WH is about to be completed.

A hug for all of you, and to every single DUer! I love you all and we are together... making history!

1. Why is reading your post making me cry?
Maybe because I am so thankful for people like you that fought so hard to make sure Obama was our nominee.

I will never forget the last couple of years.
So much emotion - so many laughs - and so much anger.

And here we all are united, the night before history will be made.

56. I caucused for Obama. It was the first time I caucused in years.
We had two great candidates, Hilary Clinton and Barack Obama. We had an even greater leader in Howard Dean and we can thank him for putting the party in the position that it is today. While the Republicans continue to rely on their rich buddies to throw $10,000 a plate dinners, Dr. Dean showed how to attract the working class sending in $100.00, or often less, to support their candidate can totally energize the party. A person may send in $5.00, the amount isn't important. What is important is that they have made a commitment and will continue to support that candidate right up to election day. Its like I heard one pastor say, its not the big donors who love to see their names on the stained glass windows who build the Churches and sustain them, its the nickels and dimes of the working class.

6. I supported ALL the Democrats from day one ...
And continued to support each and every one throughout ...

I argued against some rather specious debasement of our fellow Democrats by DU candidate partisans .... ALL were worthy of winning the primary race, and didn't deserve the scorn heaped on them by some in the name of promoting their own choice ....

I am VERY glad that Obama won, and I am THRILLED he is about to assume this office, but I haven't forgotten how things were here ....

It was butt ugly ....

Edited on Mon Nov-03-08 09:31 PM by Breeze54
I'm disappointed that my candidate didn't get the nod but I'm happy that a Democrat will be in the White House, finally.
At least it looks that way right now. Obama wasn't my first choice or second but that doesn't make you more of a Democrat
or more right than me or others that supported other Democratic candidates. Your OP sort of wreaks of "I told you so" and
that won't sit well with everyone, including me.

I don't particularly like the tone of the OP, but hey, now is the time for unity, so I'll be big about it. There were some fine candidates in the primaries, including our soon-to-be VP. Much like I accepted Dean's defeat four years ago and got behind Kerry, I got behind Obama this time and am about to be proud to be an American again.

Here's to the history WE ALL ARE MAKING.

39. I proposed and organized the DU Barack Obama Group...
which was added to the board on December 6, 2006. Since I post news articles almost exclusively, I was through the Primaries a neutral poster and had a positive view of all the Democratic candidates.

I saw in Obama, however, very early on something extraordinary, and it was Obama I thought was marked for true greatness.

I wrote the brief Mission Statement for the DU Obama Group, which was approved by the required number of supportive DUers, over two years ago:

"The mission of the Barack Obama Group is to discuss this rising star in the Democratic Party and to share news and information about his life, career and political future. DUers who are supporters of Senator Obama for President, or have a positive view of the Senator and are open to an Obama candidacy in 2008 are welcome."

It was a war on here and both were very vocal advocates for Clinton. Probably two of the best Senator Clinton had on here so they were often targets of some nasty name calling. I think their problem was it was difficult to be with people who had you spent so much time fighting.

By the end of the primaries people basically didn't even read posts they just responded FU over avatars.

61. I would have supported Hilary if she won.
But I always thought that she could be very effective in the Senate. Her knowledge can be invaluable in bringing to fruit progressive legislation. In fact, her legacy could far out live that of Obama. Obama leading the executive branch and Clinton the Senate will be a block buster. I just pray that the Democrats have a veto proof majority. I wouldn't totally alienate Lieberman, he could be a "useful idiot."
